"As a student who participated in GATE and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, my workload was quite heavy, but very manageable as long as the student was dedicated, motivated, and organized. Our schedules were made the year before by filing out a very simple paper which allows students to choose their electives. If there were any issues, the counselors were always available and willing to assist you in making the student happy with their class schedule. The curriculum was very straightforward, which allowed everyone to understand what was expected of them."

"Highland High was unique in its demographic. It has a large number of low income students with difficult home lives. Many of these students could be aggressive, which often times resulted in fights on and off campus, threats being made over social media, and intense rivalries among other schools. Even though I would go back to Highland High in a heartbeat, this decision is strongly based on the people I associated with and the choices I made. I enjoyed my time there, and would do it all over again, because the sense of Scotsmen pride runs throughout campus. However, students must remain careful of their decisions socially."

"As a proud Scotsmen myself, it was very difficult at times to proclaim that pride as many students at Highland judge and bully their fellow peers for having a sense of school spirit. Pep rallies were hard to make fun, as ASB can't please everyone. Most students have no issue complaining about anything and everything, but often times don't do anything about it themselves. Peer pressure was widespread, like most high schools. But I never felt like I couldn't turn people down if it was anything I didn't feel comfortable doing."

"Although I am somewhat bias, as I took GATE and Advanced Placement classes, my experience with the teachers and other faculty was exceptional. My classroom setting was filled with respectful students and teachers. Lack of discipline never hindered my learning experience. The teachers were always approachable with any questions and concerns I ever had. I never felt as though I didn't have resources necessary to succeed. My teachers had a variety of teaching styles, which allowed me to learn in different ways and hopefully will be helpful in adapting to a college classroom."

"Most teachers at highland are great. however, there are a select few that don't seem to care at all about their students"
