"My experience joining the wildcat community was an evolution experience because I remember in my freshmen year I was a super shy type of person who wouldn't socialize or communicate with my peers. I was afraid once students would hear my voice I would live my life in elementary or middle school again. But I met this one person, who was different from the rest of the students. She actually respect my choice of not talking and became my friend through freshmen year until this present moment. I remember when Oakland High created an event called spirit week, I was clueless to what is that week or day or even event. My friend explain it to me that it was to fund for our school and show some school spirit. During the week there would be different kinds of theme during the week. For example, there was Twin day where people would find a partner and match clothing or style with each other, and there was a summer theme where everyone would dress for the break or be prepare for summer."

"This is a great school for most of the people who live in Oakland, and there are all sorts of resources provided for students. Academic is overall good but there are improvements, clubs and activities are pretty fun actually. Teachers are repsonsible and patient, football and basketball are pupular sports at school. More importantly, the diversity of this school is amazing which there are many different cultures within this shcool. The safety at this school might not be in good rate since Oakland is a dangerous city."

"They need to change the schedules back to regular (non-block) because we are actually missing a lot more days to learn. Overall, an okay school, most the teachers/ staff care about their students."

"Oakland High School is a pretty small school ,but because of that, bonds are made. Growing up in Oakland, I was never truly close to any of my friends. When I started going to school in O-High, I got really with my elementary friends and other friends that I had met. Because the school isn't very huge in size and student population, we all became really close to one and another. The school offers a lot of club ranging from culture to educational. Food fair and spirit week has to be one of the best experiences In being in this school! Through out my experiences, I'm really happy that I didn't change my mind and had transferred to a different school or I wouldn't have met any of these jokers! I'm really happy that I went here and I'm grateful for being able to let out my voice about this school."

"The staff at Oakland High School are nice and supportive, it can feel very homey at times. You really get a sense that they want you to succeed. The experience there is very diverse and the school accepts everyone. The one big gripe I have is that for each and every welcoming person there, there is a student who is equally as hostile. There is an abundance of kids who are silly and lack any seriousness in their own education and the education of their fellow classmates. Sometimes it gets so disruptive that teachers have to pull their class to a grinding halt as it gets exponentially difficult to communicate to serious students. It's very disappointing at times and could lead less serious students astray. It's a great place but it's not without its faults."
