"The Ukiah Independent Study Academy is a great program offered by the Ukiah school district. The program allows students to exercise their brains in a freeing way."

"Special study options accommodate to the students' learning ability (or most desired learning technique). For example instead of reading a boring textbook and answering questions for homework, the instructor may offer to assign you a documentary or movie based on that subject if you learn auditorial. Or if you're particularly great at something, like writing poems, you could enjoy writing a poem relative to the book you read for english instead of writing a non interesting response paper."

"This school made me have more leisure time for myself instead of constantly worrying or stressing out about presentations, homework, finals, etc. I could choose which days out of the week I wanted to/ had time to work on the assignments for my classes. I also could form a normal sleeping schedule instead of staying up until 3am writing an essay due for class at 7:30 am. Now this could also be apart of poor time management and procrastination, however on independent study, you meet with your teacher for an hour at a time thats significant for you both; not 7:30 am. I could sleep in and enjoy myself. I could get up and actually eat a decent meal for breakfast. I could also travel, work jobs, start college classes for financial benefit ( due to still being a high school undergraduate), focus on getting a driver's license, and much more that I couldn't have accomplished if I had stuck with a regular public high school!"

"I only had one teacher, however his overall quality was impressive to me. He took it above and beyond to find me the most accurate plans to aid me in my learning and preparations for college, work, and real world issues. In the end, my teacher is more of an admirable adult figure who looks out for my best interest and guides me through the most efficient, and easily approachable path. Switching from a public high school to this independent study academy has made my life significantly easier and more stress-free because I had a one-on-one connection with my teacher and that undivided attention and help."
