"Overall, I think the teachers are great. There are several teachers that I think really do the best they can to engage with students and are passionate about their subjects. The downside is that our school is a "distraction free" school, meaning we are not supposed to have our cell phones on our person while in class. I believe this practice is preposterous, given that we are living in a digital age. Shunning the use of technology is no way to prepare our students for the real world. This policy stems from the school board, as I have come to understand it, so it is not necessarily the fault of the teachers, but I feel it's worth mentioning."

"Some classes give a lot of homework without being an honor or AP class, which is just ridiculous. The school needs to offer more honors and AP classes (within reason, I get that it's a small school). Scheduling is fine except we need to stop pretending like we can put a deadline on schedule changes. People have to switch classes sometimes and it can't be helped. RTI classes need to be better advertised and considered a viable option for all students, not just those who receive poor grades."

"In general, I think the students are fairly accepting and involved. For example, I think an upward of 30% of all students are involved in a sport or cheer. For whatever reason though, people from small towns tend to be close minded. I have known plenty of people to be prejudiced against different sexual or gender orientations and other races. I would say that most people are accepting overall."

"I started high school at East Nicolaus because it was the next step from my elementary school (Pleasant Grove), and all my friends were going. However, I stayed at East Nicolaus even after I moved to Roseville with my mom because I genuinely think it is a great school. We may be small and lacking of all the bells and whistles that come with big budgets, but we have what it takes to be a great school--a caring staff, supportive parents, and well-rounded students."

"Parents at our school are extremely wise and very close to all of the students. They are super supportive in all events including athletic events and a lot of the times non athletic events."
