"We are a small school with roughly 400 people or so. Our "campus," if you can call it that, is located in an industrial park. The teachers and staff carry the jobs of three people and are some amazing people. If we win this money then we would probably spend it on our library, which is lacking in books. We are a college preparatory school so our standards are much higher then other school. For example, there are no D's at are school. You either have a C and are passing or an F and failing. We don't have a wide variety of classes, but we do the best we can. We only offer French and Spanish as languages. There are not to many electives but we have good ones. Some of the teachers are some amazing people. Both our History teachers, U.S. History and World History, are possibly the best teachers I've ever had. They really take time to get to know the students and help them out as much as possible. That is one advantage to having a small school, the personal relationships between the teachers and the students. INstead of teachers having hundreds of students, each teacher has around 150 students and the classes have about thirty people. That makes it easier to get to know each student."

"Buckingham Charter Magnet High School, a CA Distinguished and Blue Ribbon school, is the school of choice for our son. BCMHS is a high performing (consistently over 800 API), rigorous, innovative, small, close knit high school that seeks to graduate students with 21st century technology skills and academic preparedness for post secondary learning. The magnet is visual/media arts so students take electives such as Film/Video Production, Video-Editing, Web Design, Photography, Cinema Studies, and 3D Animation along with traditional electives. The classes are engaging and challenging and students must pass with 70% or higher. With a block schedule, students are able to take classes at Solano Community College and therefore earn college and high school credits simultaneously. Also, students can challenge themselves and take Advanced Placement courses via an online program on site thus having the option to take 2 per semester within one block period. BCMHS also offers many ways for students to develop such as sports, clubs, and performing arts. My son chose BCMHS because he wanted to get away from the "drama" of his much larger middle school. He is thriving at BCMHS!"

"Buckingham? NO I don't want to go there mom! Well, thats exactly what I said when I was told I was going. I had attended Will C. Wood for two years before going to Buckingham. Let me start by saying I cannot thank my mom enough for making me go here. This school is amazing, it was like coming into a new family. Will C. Wood was the worst place I have ever been to. Seeing teachers crying because other students verbal abuse, students jumping autistic students, it was insane. When I came to this school I was that tough kid that didn't take crap from other people. Then I begin to change, making friends with other kids I never thought I'd ever be friends with even teachers became close friends! It was another family for me, a family that I will miss until the day I die. Buckingham truly is a school that becomes a home, a family and a safe place to be. Please hear me out! I went to Will C. Wood, I did the public schooling and it was horrible. I just graduated and I would do anything to go back and be part of Buckingham all over again, this time attending all four years! So please if you want a safe, and nurturing school for your child send them to this school! You won't regret it!"

"Teachers here are friendly and willing to accomadate the wide background of students (some kicked out of continuation schools, some homeschooled , etc). To a point this is a good school for students with behavioral issues as staff/faculty is use to nontraditional students. This school is not satisfactory for studnets who want to go to a college, unless they want to go to trade school or a communtiy college. Students here do not have the opportunity to take classes beyond the minimum required by most colleges. Classes offered are extremely limited. "Challenging" classes are "taught" online through a seperate company. Mostly just a lot of emphasis on the CA Exit Exam and Stars tests."
