"They are very carbon cut courses which meet the requirements, but often don't go very far beyond that. The teachers are really split into two parties: those who care, and those who care about IB students. Often those who are not in the IB program get left behind in all of the madness of personal projects and such. The scheduling process is awful. There are too few counselors for the growing student population and it is almost impossible to get the required credits to graduate. Every school year I attended this school, it took at least 1 month and at least 2 tries to get my schedule to an acceptable condition. The only electives that seem worthwhile are the musical electives, which don't get enough funding. Advanced choir just got cut because we couldn't afford to keep it along with IB music. I wish this school would be an IB school or have no IB program at all."

"The counselors make sure that students get all of the classes they need. Class sizes are decent - I would say about 25-35 students in most classes. There is a decent selection of classes, but if you are an IB Diploma candidate, then your schedule is pretty restrictive. Workload is manageable, but time management skills are key. Students who procrastinate on important assignments will often find themselves swamped with work and are forced to pull all nighters. There's a decent number of IB classes, but only one AP class."

"IB students generally are very condescending to anyone who isn't an IB student. In fact, they haze any students whom they deem unworthy. Besides that, students are very accepting and it is the most integrated school I have ever attended. Students of all different races, creeds, religions, sexual orientations, and genders all spend time together as one community, and I have never seen or experienced any form of discrimination or hate towards any particular group on this campus."

"Mira Loma is about as diverse as it gets, and the student body takes pride in this. Everyone is very friendly, but after the first year, most people settle into their groups. I would not call them cliques, however, as the groups themselves are diverse and everyone is still very nice to other people. I personally did not encounter much peer pressure at Mira Loma, and I would say that most of my friends were very good influences. The people at Mira Loma are driven, accepting, competitive, spirited, smart, and so much more! There are all types of people at ML, but I would say that the average student is very focused on academics and rather liberal."

"There are plenty of great teachers at ML, but many not-so-great ones as well. However, in general, I feel that most of Mira Loma's academic success is due to the nature of the students at the school (very hardworking, intelligent, and willing to self-study) rather than the work of the faculty. Teaching styles vary greatly, but in general, I found the English and History departments to be pretty strong while the Math and Science teachers are a hit or miss. Do not come to Mira Loma solely for the quality of teaching, but I am sure that you will meet a few teachers that you connect with during your 4 years here."
