"I moved here right before my sophomore year. I've always had someone to sit with at lunch. Starting out with no friends, people sit by me, talk to me and make me feel welcome. Girls asked if I wanted to be in their group for homecoming. It's a close-knit community and it's nice to be a part of. They're building a new school which will be ready for the 2017-18 school year and it's nice. The teachers are invested and fun. Diversity...there's not a whole lot of it going on in Lakewood. For the most part people are accepting. Just as with any public school, it's hard to be ready for college out of high school but if you put in effort you'll be ready. There's not a lot of classes to choose from but that comes from being a smaller school. Our sports aren't the best but we generally do them for fun. Parents are also involved in Lakewood. It's a small community and everyone supports each other and I love that."

"I like that it's a small community so everyone basically knows everyone and bands together if someone needs help with anything like a blood drive. I don't like how some of the teachers will treat you like a 4 year old even though your almost an adult and have all A's."

"Could be better, it sucked because the school itself is so small and there aren't a lot of people in certain extracurriculars but the student sections are huge, the parents are involved very positively, and most of the teachers are understanding and reach out to you."

"Most of the teachers seem to geniunly care about their students, while one some who pick favorites and only gave attention them. There are others though who go out of their way to see how your life is going and who you can joke around with while still respecting them as your mentor."

"There are a lot things about this school that I love and a lot that I hate. Some things that I love are the sporting events. The only sporting events that attract a student section is football and basketball but not as much as football. Football is always great. We have a great team and our whole student body gets decked out in school colors. On game days we always have a pep assembly and they are always so fun and crazy. This year my class started a tailgate tradition that will most likely live on. Those tailgates were super fun. We all brought food, music, and chairs and would hangout and have fun before the big game. Another thing I have liked is the people. Many of the people that I associate with/know are all super caring and nice and all of them know how to have fun. They have made my four years of high school great. I'm so thankful for all of the people I met. One thing I have not liked are the classes/clubs. Since my school doesn't get funded too much and the school is so small we miss out on a lot. There are so many classes I wish I could have taken, but were never offered such as culinary, physics, sports medicine, and many others. It always happens where kids won't get into a class because there are too many kids and there is only one teacher for those classes. That has happened to me with pottery many years and it's horrible. Also, no one gets involved in clubs. I am a member of national honors society, but it's a club that doesn't get a lot of attention and many kids aren't apart of it. Any other kind of club isn't talked about or ever mentioned by anyone. Our student body is very uninvolved. I wish the clubs such as FBLA and DECA were a bigger part of our school. I would choose to do it all over again and try a different school because I would want that opportunity to be able to try a wide range of classes I have never been able to take. I would love to be apart of clubs that people from other schools love, but no one from my school talks about."
