"This school seems to want to be something it can not. Surrounded by superior boarding schools - Marvelwood needs to define its market more clearly and do whatever it can to meet the needs of those particular students. It clearly does not have the deep pockets most of the other CT independent schools have. It doesn't have the academic or athletic bragging rights either. While they do market themselves as a place where kids with learning differences can thrive, I am not convinced that they have pursued that end with the focus or passion that it deserves. My biggest complaint with the place is that the administration is shockingly bad at dealing with parents, or at least they were when we were associated with the school. I would not recommend this school to anyone."

"Redefining private education? That's what this school has to say about itself on its website. I can't imagine how its dumbed-down, textbook taught curriculum could redefine anything but mediocrity in education. This is a terrible school, failing students who care about academics, sports or the arts as it is less than mediocre in all three areas. Try the Berkshire School or Forman."

"The Marvelwood is an amazing school that offered me the opportunity to rise to my full potential. Before coming to Marvelwood I was a C- student at a well known prestigious school boarding school that ignored my needs and expected me to learn like everyone. I was depressed. I was stifled before I came to Marvelwood. The caring and supportive teachers gave me the tools I needed to unlock my capabilities while celebrating my gifts. I highly recommend the school."

"I am a Marvelwood graduate and currently work at the school in Alumni Relations. I can remember first walking on campus as a student. I was unsure, self conscious, and skeptical about what this school could offer me. I learned quickly that Marvelwood is a unique place. Marvelwood students & alumni all share something, the unbelievable experience Marvelwood provides/provided to us as students. This school truly educates young people and helps them realize their potential, guiding them toward their own personal success. My job is incredibly rewarding because I get to speak with alumni and hear all of their success stories and how much they truly love Marvelwood. Our new Head of School is innovative and wants to strengthen the school in every aspect. He has already been embraced by our students, parents, faculty & alumni. Alumni that have been disconnected from the school in the past, are now involved. They are seeing the schools passion and are impressed with the direction our school is headed. I highly recommend this school."

"My daughter is currently attending the school and I would discourage all parents from sending their children to this school unless you have a way to coping with their enormous amount of bills which is disproportional to the facilities they are providing and the quality of teaching. Before you send your kid, make sure that you do talk to current students (not those selected by the admissions people), but choose randomly, and talk to teachers randomly. I regret having been fooled by their selection of pupils and teachers to speak to us during our visit."
