"Yorktown is a great high school if you have a positive attitude. Personally, I think most of the people here are judgmental. It's hard making friends here if you're a transfer student. It's even harder when you're a minority. Most friend groups are very tight since they've known each other since elementary. I would highly suggest to just be yourself and don't try to change your personality for anyone. Get involved in sports you are interested and join clubs! These are great ways to make friends. This school is dominantly white. The white kids run most of the clubs and all elections. The few minorities that are here tend to stick together. Yorktown is the least diverse compared to the other high schools in Arlington for sure. Pretty new building with a new tennis courts. Parking is a pain for students since almost all juniors and seniors have cars. Early bird gets the worm type of thing for parking. Staff is overall friendly. A lot of conservatives. What definitely makes this school unique is the team spirit. Hype Squad is what runs most crowds at football games. Though, mostly only the whites are spirited, the minorities don't participate as much. Cafeteria food is a hit and miss. S/O to Moe at the food truck though. I think I would go to this school again though. Just have to be yourself and participate in clubs and sports and know how to balance school and social life."

"I enjoy going to Yorktown High School (YHS) because of the theatre department. Out theatre teacher is amazing and teaches us in a nonjudgmental, ensemble based setting. I have made very close friends in this department and I look forward to going to theatre every day. The theatre experience at YHS is very different from any other school. It isn't about who it the most talented, which is something I really enjoy. Other aspects of the school are less great. Yorktown puts an insane amount of pressure on their students, which creates an atmosphere of too much stress. While I do well, I know other people who try their best but struggle greatly."
