"Theres not anything positive to say about this school. My daughter is not happy going to Carver School of Technology because she says the kids are always being bad and disrespectful. She told me teachers arent even allowed to kick kids out of the class when they're being disruptive because there is no where for them to go. How can students learn with so much nonsense happening in the classroom? I'm looking into other options because my student is not happy here. This school needs some serious help, especially with discipline."

"Many students here have severe problems--excessive absences from school, disruptive behavior, family problems, poverty, etc. This school is simply not equipped to deal with these issues, and is overwhelmed with fights, theft, and serious classroom disruptions to focus on what really matters. As a result, academic performance is extremely low. There is a serious culture of underachievement and a very low standard of behavior. The bottom line is that this school will not prepare students to compete in the real world with their higher-income peers. Students who make it to college will face challenges since they have not been held to high expectations while here."

"I have 2 sons who attend Carver School of Technology at Carver. They are not performing well. There are great teachers and administrators. The problem is the consistent gang violence and pressure from their peers to engage in fighting and unruly behavior. Many of the male students are transferred from alternative schools to Carver School of Technology. Many of them will never attend college and their academic skills are very poor despite willing and able teachers and after-school tutorial which the boys do not want to attend. I believe the APS school system should bring back the "hands-on" classes such as carpentry, auto-mechanics, electrician, etc. that will interest them because going to college is not their choice for their future. Many of them need male guidance and a different type of instruction. I want to help them avoid being a statistic (prison, death, homeless etc). Many of them have unstable home environments and have lost their way. Please, APS Board bring back the skills that George Washington Carver, the scientist, wanted us to have to be successful and contributing citizens! But more importantly, parents must become more involved!"

"This school has gotten off to a great start. Great academic program as well as a plethora of clubs and after school programs. This school make preparing students for college a top priority."
