    "St. Michael's Catholic Academy is very challenging, academically, as well as has a very good sports program. The one area that is very important is the classroom size in which the average is approximately 15 students. The offering of AP courses is large (foreign languages, English, History, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Math, etc.) which helps the student prepare for the next level (college)."

    "I love the supportive community, some teachers are very passionate about their topic, and work is challenging. Although, as catholics they tend to not acknowledge other religions and assume everyone agrees with their morals. They have a pro-life club, yet no pro-choice club, for example. Many teachers teach to the course and not the students. They can have minimum expectations that students just can't reach with their balanced workload. Also, it is not uncommon for a wave of teachers to leave or be fired from the school each year, thus leading to classes becoming more complicated (if the teacher leaves during the year) and altered a little each year. The food is sometimes very good, but rarely. Mostly the food is an aquired taste most don't seem to have. There are little options other than the daily hot food. There might be a few egg or tuna sandwiches in the fridge (if you like those). I cannot tell you how many times I've been forced to eat salad for weeks straight if I did not like the hot food or there were no sandwiches. So.. much.. salad. That is, if there's any left by the time your place in the long lunch reaches the front."

    "The school is academically rigorous but not overly competitive. Students can generally make their schedule as difficult or as easy as they like. The school is faith-based - mandatory masses are held about once a month and four years of religion are required - but religious beliefs are pretty diverse and Catholicism is not forced on students. The campus is beautiful and very secure. The fine arts program is excellent (especially drama). The sports facilities and programs are good. Most teachers are incredible and truly care about their students. Classes are generally about 20-23 students, but there are some smaller ones. The current administration is trying to implement too many changes too quickly. Many of these changes are good, but many are also controversial, and some school spirit has been lost as a result. Computers (including a few macs) are readily available to students, as well as printers, although we cannot print from laptops. There is plenty of space for students to work or socialize, and there is plenty of time during the day for such activities. The administration tries hard to create a sense of community, and they are relatively successful. Students tend to be inclusive and tolerant. People can be left out though. The food is decent. There are usually a couple choices and a wide selection of drinks, chips, candy bars, and a salad bar. There are usually vegetarian options. The lunch ladies are very friendly and know everyone by name. There are three college counselors, all of whom are kind and knowledgeable. The school has a relatively wide variety of available courses, including some new ones such as 3D Modeling, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Astronomy. St. Michael's is one of the few high schools in Central Texas that offers French. A few unusual online courses are now available for students to do in their free time or during study hall. There is a good creative writing program (a course and a club)."
