"My son has had a few good teachers there but overall the school is not the best for learning. It's more about punishment and control than encouraging children to be themselves and enjoy learning."

"This is a great school!!!!!! Both of my children were students at highland elementary, both of my children enjoyed their season at this school...The staff gets better every year. Mrs. Vansickle has truly made a difference, she hires wonderful people and they care, really care....Mrs. Jackson and ms. Blackburn and ms. Bordelon are so serious about getting your child in the proper program for their progression. All the teachers, no matter what age, take your child's learning so serious that you wonder if they have a life outside of highland, once your child make it through leap season and on to grade 5, they are ready for the world.....The 4th grade teachers are really determined to help your child during leap.....And the 5th grade teachers are eager to not just teach them, but expose them to other avenues of learning through field trips.....This is a great institution of learning.....Take advantage!"

"My oldest son has graduated from Highland Elementary School.I as well (as well as my son) enjoyed his tenure at this school. The staff is truly awesome.Every teacher cared about the academic welfare of my child.Eventually my younger child is a student there, these people really care about your child(ren). As a parent you have to show that you are concerned as well. The teachers at Highland believe in structure; and that is hard to find at a public school. The principal is really a tender but firm human who is dedicated. The office personnel, the teaching staff, the cafeteria staff and the janitorial staff are all wonderful.I am truly pleased with the Highland Family. Each teacher gives the impression that your child is oh so special,I constantly pray and lift this school and it' adminisrtation up to God.I love Highland. For those parents who have doubts, give Highland a chance."

"My child was sent there for their pre-k program for exceptional students. My son was both developmentally delayed as well as speech impaired. Next thing I knew, my son was speaking more and more clearly and could read, write and surprised me by knowing all seven continents' names and placements on the map!! Both of my sons are being taken out of their current school and returning to Highland, where they can get a real education by people who truly care about the students as people not as quota percentiles. The staff there, including Principal Van Sickle speak TO you as equals, not DOWN to you as though they were better or smarter than you. God Bless the staff at Highland!"
