"I am a student of Southeast Middle School and I am so glad this is my first and last year here. My oldest brother and sister both attended Southeast and was very disappointed when I transferrred from Woodlawn Middle to Southeast Middle. The teachers there don't really care about any of the students unless they are the kids who don't do anything and always do their work. They play favorites and don't do anything to help the students pass and prepare for high school (last time I check that's what middle school was for..preparing kids for high school right?). Now don't get me wrong there are some teachers there that actually bend over backwards to make sure kids pass and do things to actually help and benefit them. But that percentage of teachers is VERY low. To me it seems that all MOST of the teachers CARE about is their PAYDAY and GETTINGSTUDENTS OUT OF CLASS AND SUSPENDED. Another thing is, some of the teachers STRETCH THE TRUTH about what ACTUAL HAPPENED and WHY that student is in trouble. This school isn't a good school as a whole, physically, academically, the teachers don't behave mature and as a team sometimes, and MOSTLY no one is doing it for the kids. ~Ayoo Clutch'Major!"

"Coming from another parish: Southeast Middle is one of the better public schools compared to others in the parish.I am a single parent and have two children in Southeast -one which is special needs. I love the teachers there- Mr Peters, Mrs Carriere. Parents need to be more involved with their child's educational needs and school. I talked with their teachers about my expectations and my kids' needs. They are willing to bend over backwards to help a child if they know the parents will be there to back them up. It starts at home first! I'm very pleased with Southeast and know my children are getting a good education. Now there are issues with some unruly students that make it harder for others but that's in all schools in EBR- even private. If you're more concerned about that then maybe your child needs to be home-schooled."

"Being new to the East Baton Rouge School system, I was at first optimistic when I enrolled my child into Southeast. Unfortunately, I have had mostly horrid experiences with this school. The principal, Mr. Milton, is unconcerned and indifferent. However, there are a few good teachers, but I fear that administration will run them away. On the contrary, some teachers are afraid of the students, so they themselves behave as the children, as a means to 'fit in'. Truly sad! Please, if at all possible.....keep your child away from this school!!!"

"I have a child with special needs that has been there since 6th grade and now is in the 8th grade. He has had outstanding teachers that have worked in every way possible to help him and we are seeing the results of their hard work this year. I would recommend it to anyone. The teachers try anything and everything to help the students succeed."

"Southeast Middle School is not an option if your child enjoys school and desires to learn from teachers who enjoy teaching. The school is not equipped with technology that would enhance their education for college. The School Board inclusion of levels of students seems to be interfering with those children who do not have learning or behavioral problems. If you can afford private school do so, if not, consider moving to another state as we are considering next year. Your children are worth it"
