"Upper School - Although the school has stellar academics, there are many overly entitled, competitive, and mean spirited kids. Jocks and kids who party tend to fair better than other types. How does this differ from any other school you might ask? A) your child will probably have more social options assuming the student body is larger, and B) you're not paying $27,000 per year for the experience. That being said, the social climate is better in some grades versus others. If you are considering sending your teen here, I would strongly advise you to have him/her visit for the day and pay close attention to the social dynamics, which in my opinion is the school's biggest negative."

"I very much dislike this school, since it does not have any good points. GA is the worst possible school to even think about. I would hate, yes, absolutely, positively hate to go there."

"I was raised by two PhD professors who held high expectations for the schools I attended. Germantown Academy (which I attended from 6th-12th grade) was the seminal academic experience of my life, setting the bar higher than could be matched by the colleges I subsequently attended. They delivered a rigorous academic experience, nurturing faculty, and opportunities to try your hand at any subject or skill you might want to pursue. The faculty were both my mentors and friends who encouraged me to pursue my dreams. This is an institution absolutely devoted to its students and to raising the next generations of leaders. Thank you, GA! (My mother recently told me: "I wish I had another kid so I could send them to GA.")"

"This school was worth every penny! Both of my children attended 6-12. The teachers really understand and care about your child's success in the classroom and out. The expectation level is high and the work load is heavy but it really pays off in college. My oldest went to a top 20 LAC and has maintained a 4.0... an accomplishment never achieved at GA."
