"The community is great but the building is old."

"The problem with the teachers as a generalization is that there is simply such a large variety of styles and situations across the school that it becomes difficult to say one thing without being able to come up with a negation for it. For example, there are two AP Biology teachers at my school, and one of them is very well educated (doctorate from UPenn, degrees in education and premed), knows what he's talking out when he's lecturing, and can create engaging, fast-paced lessons. He frequently offers opportunities outside of school by advertising various summer camps/programs, or finding internships for his students via his extensive network of friends and acquaintances. He's approachable and easy to relate to. On the other hand, the other AP Biology teacher is not as well-educated, and knows significantly less about the subject. She appears to be quite clueless in general, and although I do believe she is trying to help us, she is certainly not very good at it. She frequently makes mistakes while lecturing (and then it becomes up to a student to raise his/her hand and contradict her), and tends to oversimplify and avoid the more complicated areas in the curriculum. This is just one example of the diversity in our school's teachers, of course. For the most part, I do believe the teachers want to help; the disparity lies more in their ability to do so (i.e. It's just a matter of competence)."

"Upper Merion Area High School was a great school when I attended it. I am proud to say that i graduated from UM."

"The school isn't terrible. I wouldn't go back, though. I think it was just the aggregation of minute flaws that made it overall an unextraordinary experience. But, in the end, it was to be expected. Because I attend one of the less wealthy public schools in the area, the range of intelligence and ambition is extremely wide. There are many individuals who check their grades every five minutes (myself included), who are dissatisfied with any grade below a 95, and who greatly desire to succeed in high school and college and sincerely value education. Then, there are many individuals who are only attending to avoid legal repercussions, who could not care less whether they went to UPenn or Penn State, who have no respect for the significance of education and society. I'm not trying to say that this is bad, but because of this diversity in perspectives, the school cannot cater specifically to any one student's needs. In other words, it's just mediocre in many ways. The cleanliness leaves some to be desired but it's not horrid. The sports teams were never amazing (except for the volleyball team), nor were our academic competition records (such as Science Olympiad, Reading Olympics, Math Team, Model UN, Debate Team, DECA). I'm okay with that, though."

"I have enjoyed my experiences at this school. I especially enjoyed playing basketball throughout my school career. I enjoyed the fact that all of my teammates families came together and that we all became on big family."
