"I have two sons, one a recent graduate and the other still attends PS 175. I feel they both have recieved a great education from PS 175. My son in HS is now in amny AP classes and entered High School with a strong foundation. PS 175 is a very strong school community were children develope strong friendships and the parents are very involved in the school."

"I would have to say that overall PS 175 is an exceptional school. The quality of eductaion is more like a private then public school. It has an 'A' rating by the Department of Education and the Principal is very pro active and approachable. The Level of communication between the school and the home is excellent and the PTA is very involved and their input in the school is very obvious."

"While PS 175 is very pro-active in terms of events and community activities. I find myself turned off to the academical imbalance to their structure. The Principal in my opinion is terrific! She knows all the students by name and even recognizes the parents - she is easily accessible. The teachers however, are not. They do not keep the parents updated(unless you are in the notorious gang ...the Parents Association...hehehe) while the working moms not only cannot get in touch with them - they have been un-responsive to letters and telephoned requests. Oh how I hate the grading system of the kindergarten classes. I need to know where my child needs assistance - I will be putting my child in tutoring as I do not want to fall below grade level or not develop a passion for learning - she's to young to be a drop."

"I once believed in PS 175. I believed the information Old Time Residence had. I once looked forward to having children and having them attend the City Island Public School. Well I had children and they went to PS 175. Two graduated and went to Fordham Prep and Iona Prep.. Both had to have remidiation in ELA and Math. Shocking to me considering they scored well in the CO OP's and in the State Man Dated Tests. But yes they had to have remediation work to succeed in High School. One tuitor asked me how he did in the 7th & 8th grade, because foundation was missing.... They had to have remediation in the 9th grade. Well, my opinion of NY City Schools in general to say the least is NEGSTIVE> Hence PS 175 was missing something..."
