"Simply put, St. Francis Xavier provides its students with an inferior education. My child no longer attends this school as I felt he deserved better than out-of-date instructional practices with absolutely no differentiation, extremely large class sizes, insensitive administrators, and a complete lack of appreciation for creativity and ingenuity. I knew for a fact that this was not the place for my super bright and energetic young son when I was reading the student writing posted outside of the principal's office. They were all the same cookie-cutter, formulaic standards, clearly indicating to me that these students are not encouraged to think creatively and critically. Students in middle school and high school are now being held to higher students in order to compete in today's world, and St. Francis Xavier's "one size fits all instruction" is just not going to prepare him/her to succeed. My son is now challenged, engaged, and excelling in his education in another school!"

"As a former student of St. Francis Xavier, I can honestly say it is the poorest excuse for a school. At St. Francis I was always at what I thought was the top of my class with a 92 average. I did well in core subjects such as Math, Science, Social Studies. After graduating and moving to Westchester County and attending one of the nation's best public schools in an affluent area, I was struggling and getting 80s in the subjects that I thought I knew so well. The difference between this catholic school and a great public high school is so large that it is astounding. The principal of the school should be ashamed to call herself a principal. After reading the previous comments, I see that nothing has changed since I left in June 2008 as the parents are still running the school. It is sad that a group of nobodies are in charge of a school that could be great if the curriculum, administration, and teaching staff changed"

"Everything is excellent. Principal, teachers, the education and the running of the school in general. Glad to see a Catholic School concerned with Religion. Children are taken to Church on Holy Days, First Fridays, and for religion class sometimes to explain to the children the Church, the altar, Sanctuary Candle, etc. Fathe Furey is wonderful. Always there in the morning and afternoon to welcome and dismiss the children and knows everyone by name."

"I want parents to know what i wish i knew before sending my son to this school. If you are a working parent then you should know you will be shut out and your child will not have a fair share in this school. It is parent controlled. I do have to say I like the TEACHERS and wish they weren't working for this school. Mothers think they are the teachers talk about one another and judge EVERYONE. Classes are to large and not enough attention given to students. Not enough PE, and rushed during lunch. Always MONEY HUNGRY.....donations so it reads. Do your research before reg. your child for this school. Its every child and parent for themself in this school. I am trying to save parents the nightmare i lived. Again the teachers are great.......principal can't believe she calls herself a principal. Please find another catholic school nearby,"

"Absolutely terrible institution. my son was in the pre-k program for 2 months before he was kicked out for "behavioral issues". The way that the Principal handled the situation was appalling and insensitive. If I had been able to attend the meeting where my wife was rudely informed that my 4 year old was 'no longer welcome' - well let's say that it would have turned ugly in a hurry. Probably best that my wife handled it. Fast forward one year to kindergarten at nearby PS 108 and those "behavioral issues" have magically disappeared and he's getting terrific grades and love his teacher. Fast forward one more year and he's in a gifted and talented program as a 1st grader. As a childhood-long public school student (I also attended Bronx Science), I'll make the claim that public schools are nearly always the better option. Teacher and administrators have education as their goal. Not so in Catholic schools. Only the truly desperate need apply here."
