"Overall this is a good school. Unfortunately, unless your child has an IEP, they do very little to provide extra help. They also have nothing for gifted and talented students. It is a middle class community with very high taxes and the teachers are paid handsomely but with the current economy services to STUDENTS have been slaughtered while teachers still get raises. The priorites are skewed. Having said that I will also note that many of the teachers I have dealt with are very good and inspire kids. The bad teachers are not held accountable and the good teachers are not rewarded. The shcool district has cut so much that the kids are just getting a basic education."

"Both my daughter and son attended KPS. All but one teacher were terrific. This school has an amazing Multi-age program for first and second graders. I enrolled my daughter into the program and didn't know what I had lost until I decided not to enroll my son. The science fairs and level of learning in the Multi-age was very impressive. On my day to volunteer I walked in to find both 1st and 2nd grade teachers seperating meal worms into individual cups for the kids... by hand. Yuck! Talk about dedication. The program is so creative and imaginative. I didn't enroll my son because I wanted him to move to the Kent Elementary School for second grade, because it would be easier with his sister there. I hear the KES has a great second grade teachers. The only complaint I have had is my daughter has dificulties learning. Even though the teachers and support staff were great, it is hard to get help for your child if they do not qualify with the special board of educations level of learning disabled. I found it necessary to have my daughter tutored, which was very expensive. The school taxes in this area are very high also. But the school teaches a No Bullying Policy, and the principle is a doll. The gym teacher stands at the doorway each morning greeting and high five-ing the students no matter what the weather. I'd recommend this school to anyone with kids. They encourage parental involvement and I advise you to do this. It helps to keep connected to your kids and makes them feel so special!"
