"6th year with a child at HCHS, we are not happy at all! Other previous statements below mentioned that the teachers take complaints made about them out on your student! That is a FACT, it happens!! Not fair, but it does and the principal does nothing about it. Upper administration is a good old boy network, happy with the sense of this being a back woods, old school mentality. Upper admin doesn't follow up...lack of communication is very very frustrating and unprofessional! They cover up and hide student serious offenses and act like they never happened or sugar coat the offense depending on the student. Harsh consequences are only for some students. Some teachers are there for a paycheck only and when it's obvious to parents it sure should be obvious to administration! Clubs and sports.......if it's not about the football program you can forget it admin cares not about its success. Guidance does a horrible job returning voice messages and emails (this and last year). I could go on on and on... these comments are based on our personal experience and discussions with other parents at this school we have talked with."

"Harris County High has been great for my son. This is his first year of high school (9th grade) as well as this is a new school for him. He loves it and so do we."

"HCHS is a great school and have some great teachers but if you make some of them mad then they take it out on the student and that's not fair to the student. They will hold your child back instead of coming to you. The band director especially is good for that. The principle will tell you what he thinks you want to hear and not follow up on them. Overall he is a great guy. Great School. Don't ever give up on your child, fight for them to the end cause that's what you have to do if you have a problem there at the school with the teacher."

"Harris County High is an excellent school. There are some teachers who have lost some of their passion for teaching and just seem to be "coasting" to retirement, but that is a problem everywhere. On the whole, though, the teachers are passionate about their subjects and make tremendous efforts to get students excited about learning. There are so many extracurricular activities and clubs, there's really something for every interest. The administration is a little out of touch with the "front line" business of teaching and learning, but again, that's a common problem in any school. When I was a student there were security cameras on all halls and common areas, which gave students (and teachers, I'm sure) a great sense of security. Typical teenage drama aside, I really enjoyed my time there. I went on to attend Wesleyan College in Macon, GA on a full academic scholarship, if that tells you anything about the quality of an HCHS education."

"Harris County has developed into much more than the 'little hick school' that it used to be considered. The majority of the teachers are caring and want to see their students succeed. Yes, some of the rules can be a little overbearing, but the students need to have regulations and discipline. The athletics are above par and the effort put in by the faculty, staff, and students is evident every day. I enjoyed high school so much there I am wanting to become a math teacher, so I can come back and teach there."
