    "Overall, the majority of the teachers are very qualified to teach. I think due to State mandated testing requirements, the teachers are unable to teach the way they have found works best and have been forced to rush through lessons in order to cover what is required. Due to this, any child that struggles or doesn't grasp material immediately gets removed from the classroom and put into a "special" class for help. For the children this happens to, they lose self confidence and end up hating school. There is only so many spots for students struggling, so others stay in the classroom, but get terrible grades and they end up hating school as well. Basically the 1st quarter of every school year is spent on review. The 2nd quarter is spent learning new material. The 3rd and first part of the 4th quarter is spent cramming for State testing, where basically no new learning occurs and then last month and a half of school is spent trying to cram in new material. Also, many teachers over use the "homework tool" for teaching as well as the "at home project" custom. I believe 1 major at home project per quarter is acceptable, but there are many teachers who use this as a sole means of grading. Not only is it costly to families to provide; the materials needed for these projects, it over burdens students with work at home. After spending 6 hrs in school and 2 hrs riding the bus, they need to have time to run around and be kids. They are getting burned out, no different then an adult who works 8 hours per day and then spends an additional 4 or more hours at home every evening doing "work" for their job on top of commuting. School work at home leaves no time for family time. All the projects and homework is just an excuse for some teachers not to have to teach. It is sad, that in our push as a society to better educate our children and to ensure we leave no child out, that we have actually created a culture of robots who don't know any more then children from past generations."
