"Palmetto Scholars Academy has been in existence for six years as a state charter school. PSA concentrates on the development of the whole child in areas of STEM as well as The Arts. As a new school, athletics is still in its infancy, but academically they are far ahead of most area schools. Students have participated in a joint experiment with NASA, excelled in Cyber security competitions and sent students to Washington, DC to participate in National History Day at the Smithsonian. Our daughter has been enrolled since the sixth grade and has participated in athletics (basketball and volleyball), National History Day competition, band, chorus (all County) and will soon have a piece of one of her ELA expositions published in YES! magazine. I cannot give the Board, Administration and Faculty enough credit for the support they give all the students."

"This is supposed to be an advanced school and they teach typical year long corr classes in a semester, but the classes are just really slow and they let the students get away with anything. I chose to not do it all over because right now it is pretty boring and stressing me out because they do not have any classes for CATE or advanced placement, international bacculerate, dual credit, early college program, or even liberal arts classes. They only pertain to students that want to be engineers and only help them."

"The teachers teach the topics and will go into real world examples, with most of them coming from multiple colleges and have doctorates in obe or two of their chosen college studies. Their teaching abilities cannot really be averaged because some of them have been teaching never, or awhile. The school gets their teachers from pretty much anywhere. Their teaching styles are really visual most of the time, or some college teachers that are there let kids figure it out on their own. Their are terrible communication skills between teachers and students with good communication only between students that personally know the teachers. The grading consistency is all over the place and quite frankly, some of the teachers get confused by the grading themselves. Their is mostly visual and auditory teaching (mostly auditory) focused teaching, not applying to kinsthetic learners like myself. Most of the real-world samples they use I do not understand all the time and no one bothers to explain it. They often say that they do not want to be there and ignore students questions. Their knowledge is pretty limited."
