"The students that have been here since 9th grade are very comfortable with the culture and diversity. We are more accepting of diversity among the students and it doesn't phase us as much as the freshmen coming in and being exposed to diversity. The culture can be intimidating to the new students, but us seniors, are on our way out and we are just beginning to move toward our future."

"Peer pressure and bullying aren't issues in our school. Everyone is open about who they are and are generally accepted. While the school has its fights and people have disagreements but overall everyone has many friends. In our school we are supposed to be open minded and we are. everyone is accepted and we all own the fact that we can learn from everyone and their backgrounds."

"There's a lot of pressure on students with the workload. Especially if you play a school sport, you are expected to keep your grades up and participate in practice, which is overwhelming sometimes. However, it teaches us to juggle and prioritize work and play."

"The best aspect is that the school has incorporated the Middle Years IB program into the entire school curriculum. This gives all students, not just a few, the opportunity to explore and receive a higher level of instruction opening them to greater possibilities. One struggle is scheduling. There seems to be less flexibility allowed in providing a variety of non core course options for students who choose the honor's path. They are limited in their choices and are not able to pursue interests that are available to other due to scheduling conflicts such as media production, advanced band, foreign language."

"Strong academic with highly effective teachers. Most of our educators hold Masters degrees and work to obtain multiple certification. There are educators, former Principals, and members of the local government who send their children to Douglass because they are certain they are confident in the type of education their students will receive."
