"This is a great school! They use the words you want to hear, and follow it up. The faculty and administration are friendly and caring, and the academics are excellent. We have seen none of the excessive discipline referred to in the recent reviews. There are plenty of spirited kids in our daughter's class, and I have never heard of one being held out of recess, so it is hard to imagine one being severely punished for a single incident of grabbing a crayon. We have also had great response from faculty and administration with any concerns that we have had, so if an unfair incident were to happen, I am confident that it would be dealt with fairly."

"Kudos to the parent who had the courage to bring to light what really goes on behind the scenes at this school. I am not sure how a teacher in a preschool program or parent is unprepared to handle a young child "grabbing a crayon". And that this is viewed as a Level III severe aggression and met with removal from a recess or an activity is absurd. This type of severe punishment for such a minor action is nothing more than the school bullying the child!!!!!"

"To the parent who gave the school a two star rating, consider for a moment, your child being bullied or excluded and the behavior of the children who are doing it is not being addressed. I can appreciate that your child might have wonderful unique traits from God. What you see as wonderful unique traits in your child, might not be seen the same way a child, parent or teacher who is affected by your child's behavior. This school is still relatively new and has grown quickly. I am happy to see they have implemented a system to deal with "spirited" children who are disruptive, inconsiderate and not inclusive."

"They use the words you want to hear like faith and community, have physically appealing facilities with a renovated elementary school and newly constructed middle school, point to a strong academic program and low student teacher ratio, and great you with warm smiles. HOWEVER behind this fa ade, the administration applies a heavy handed, outdated disciplinary approach to even the youngest children which is heartbreaking to see. This approach has been formalized in an Anti-Bullying Rubric that is applied all the way to the PK3 level and requires mere 3 year olds to sit-out of recess. It is stifling to their development and tears down rather than fosters the self esteem that is so important for our children today. Look elsewhere if you are searching for a faith based education and approach based on nurturing a child s growth and development with a little bit of love, understanding and compassion. This school takes an approach utilizing shame and guilt until a child succumbs to their vision of a good Catholic removing all of the wonderful, unique individual traits that God creates in each child."

"Immaculate Conception/ St. Joseph school is a great fit for our family. It offers individualized teaching for children (excellent student to teacher ratio 10:1), sound academic philosophy, with an incredible sense of community. The curriculum is challenging and the teachers engaging. The school helps develop well rounded children with Spanish starting in Pre-K, art and art appreciation and extras such as Mad Science, Mandarin, Italian, Ballet, Basketball, Chess, etc. The challenge for this school is getting a child in---apply early!"
