"If you're in the zoned program, you're looked down upon by teachers, staff, and students in the gifted programs. The school is sort of racially segregated. The blacks and hispanics are in the zoned program while the whites and asians are in the specialized programs. The hallways are very overcrowded and you'll arrive late to most of your classes. Teachers cant really help you because of the large amount of students they deal with,so if you're struggling in a class,it's up to you and your parents to fix that. Some of the teaches dont know how to control a class and the kids just go crazy. I've had a couple of good classes where the teacher is good and students are polite but the out of control classes I've had out number that ratio. This school has many sports and after school clubs. Overall this school is only great if you're in the specialized/gifted programs. When you're in the zoned program it's not very good. The school should look more into improving the zoned programs and not make us feel like we're inferior or lower class to the gifted kids. I would not send my kids to this school."

"Loved my experience at midwood. Considering the limited funding and overcrowding I think the teachers really did their best. I felt very prepared for college and later grad school."

"It's ok but I think it's soo crowded. I ask the teachers for help and they sometimes say no. Most of them don't notice their students."

"When I attended Midwood High School, at first it was a bit intimidating. To attend a public High School with 5000+ individuals in the program at first glance seemed like it would be a challenge however that was one of the best parts of the school - its diversity. I cannot begin to tell you how many friends I had made from various backgrounds and mentalities. This school has definitely forged a lot of lifelong relationships that mean the world to me. Secondly, in terms of the academics if this were to be evaluated as it relates to the specialized high school test, Midwood would come right there with the other "major schools" (Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, etc)."

"As an alumni of Midwood HighSchool, I have a lot of good memories to hold onto. Most of my teachers were all very memorable and efficient. I recall working very hard, and it paid off, as it was reflected in grades. In the Medical Science Program, my teachers were resourceful and even though the work level may have been intense at times, the teachers made it interesting and I can look back at high school knowing it was a success and helped me get to where I am today. Also, even though the school is incredibly crowded, I felt the different schedules for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors made the process relatively smooth and organized."
