"My daughter has been in the TAG program for a few years now. She has loved all of her teachers so far. The teachers have been keeping us posted on her need to socialize more so we can do our part at home. Parental turnout to events has been consistently strong. The principal doesn't shy away from driving home the message that the school needs funding for arts and other programs that benefit all children in the school. The yearly fund-raising banquet is an interesting idea. The math program is based on Everyday Math, which seems a bit soft. I believe that's dictated by the school board, but math is getting easier to teach with sites like khanacademy.org these days. The classrooms have air conditioning (unlike the scools I had as a kid) so they can focus when it gets warm. Since the school has a high percentage of Chinese students, it's helped my daughter shed the notion that it's important to be blonde-haired and blue-eyed. I'm quite satisfied with the education PS130 is delivering, but know that I'm expected to do my part outside the classroom as well."

"We stopped by to submit an out of district application for K admission - a short visit that turned out to be an informative discussion. We stood asking questions at the office counter, as one of the persons behind joined in, who shortly introduced herself as the school's principal. Probably sensing our "are-we-doing-what's-best-for-our-child" anxiety, she invited us into her office for an hour-long discussion. We went over, our hopes for our daughter's education, her her history & experience raising two children with very different learning styles - we covered it all & were more than impressed by Ms. Woo's willingness to have a non-scheduled spur of the moment conversation with two nervous parents, as well as her ability to address our concerns with ease, conviction, and empathy. The school itself was lovely - clean - and the attitude from all the staff we came into contact with was warm and welcoming. There is clearly a culture there that comes from the top, and we hope to receive notification that our daughter is admitted. If not, we most certainly will try again. We welcome the opportunity for our daughter to attend P.S. 130, especially after meeting Ms. Woo."

"PS 130 is a truly fine school. It has lovely children, a talented and focused staff and a great parent body. Its principal, Mrs. Lily Woo, is extremely competent. She demonstrates fairness and professional sensitivity to all. In my own time as a teacher, she provided me with enormous support when a loved one in my family was seriously ill. I feel fortunate to have taught at PS 130 for 22 years."

"PS 130M is an amazing place for both children and staff. The students are respected and cared for by all the adults that are in charge of them. The teachers and other staff members are collaborative and supportive of each other and students regardless of ethnic backgroud. In fact, the diversities that we DO have serve to enhance our understanding of each other and allow for conversations that will help the students to understand how to manage their own expectations when they interact with individuals of other cultures both in and outside of the school building. I am fortunate to be a part of this considerate, hard working and high achieving community."

"I have been a teacher at P.S. 130 for almost thirty years and have been the UFT union representative for twenty years. In all this time, I have NEVER had a staff member come to me with a complaint that he or she was being treated unfairly because of ethnicity or religious beliefs. Indeed, P. S.130 could not be the outstanding school that it is if our administration, under Mrs. Woo's leadership were not one that showed respect for the staff. Even during times when individual staff members suffered personal hardships, the administration did their utmost to accommodate staff needs, to be supportive and caring in every possible way. We all consider ourselves blessed to be working in such a wonderful school."
