    "I loved this school after the admissions interview. It didn't deliver on 3 counts: Communication with parents is non existent. Calls weren't returned. the blackboard portal and newsletter were it. Second, your son needs to be a self motivator / athlete. They offer a lot - however, for a kid who doesn't want to be involved, they lack the "mentor or coaching" follow through. Finally, we were told that grades were watched closely and if a student began to decline academically, they would be required to meet with teachers. This didn't happen either. We got one call after my son was close to failing. There was no supervision to verify he met with teachers after school. There seems to be a real lack of communication within the professional staff at the school/barracks/study hall/coaches If your son wants to go and is motivated - great. If not, this isn't your best choice to develop and monitor his growth."

    "i would appreciate any feed back from parents or students presently attending VFMA i have 3 military academy's to chose from and VFMA is one of them i want to make a sound decision on what would be more appropriate and convenience for my son."

    "As aparent of a 2008 graduate of VFMA, and reading the report of bullying and theft, it is apparent to me that your child ose one of those who couldn't hack it in the militaristic style of life at this wonderful school. My only regret was that my son did not choose to atriculate in the college program which is a one of a kind oppurtunity. I would recommend this school to anyone to help their son to grow in leaps and bounds over all other schools, and you do not have to be able to afford it if your son is good enough to graduate from the program."

    "I want to address the parent from Nov. 9 post. My son is extemely academic, a talented athlete, very well mannered and in no way is a "throw away child." I sent him there to learn life skills and discipline that would put him ahead in life. His wants become a professional athlete he will be living that dream. I have seen him soar to such high levels and achieve many successes. He did very well at his old school and was a leader there too. I attend Chapel services with him and often attend the parades. I always leave feeling prouder than ever that I am an American. As far as bullying if you follow the rules you are rewarded if you don't you are held accountable. If the public schools would follow the VFMA policies and procedures there would be much less violence in their schools. My son has not told me anything to make me believe what you say is true, but has stated quite the opposite. He is a leader at VFMA and is always very conscientious on how he discipines cadets that aren't following the rules."

    "Perhaps a once proud institution that has deteriorating classrooms and barracks, theft, and physical violence with abuse of power and out of control discipline. Higher ranking cadets given responsibility and authority to dole out punishments with very little review by the adult tactical officers in residence in the barracks. The inmates it seems are running the asylum. It would appear that the only students left standing at the end of the year are the hard core discipline problems or "throw-away" students who have no other options but to stay. This school is not the place for a young man who really wants to be there because the bullying and harassment are free in the public schools. Really thought this would not be such an issue in a school that costs this much."
