"We have a lot of white kids in our class who come from wealthy families."

"Each class that we take is almost like a college prep class. AP courses are just as vigorous as a normal college class. I know this because I took a college class (French 1 & 2) at City College in Down Town San Diego. Now I am taking AP US History and realizing that they follow similar patterns on how to teach the students."

"I really love my school. It is very academically competitive but has some great opportunities, like CoSA. I believe CoSA is one of the many perks of CHS because it offers something challenging and unique. I participate in that program so I can get a foundation in something I already know I want to continue for a career."

"I came from a school in Virginia for my freshman and sophomore years so coming here was a culture shock because it is a very wealthy area with high standards and different approaches. The school is extremely challenging and the clubs and activities are less varied due to the smaller size of Coronado. I was very involved in school in Virginia with drama (being a thespian), chorus, and instrumental ensembles but Coronado does not have as accessible school programs for my passions so I haven't gotten the chance to love this school as much as my school in Virginia. That being said, I'm not sure if I'd go to Coronado again because I might want to pick Virginia if anything."

"This school has a lot of great teachers that are engaging with the students and create a fun academic environment. In my opinion, having a good teacher really makes the overall year significantly better. Yes, there are a few exemptions with some teachers I wish I would have dropped out of their class. But even then, I was able to work with the teacher in order to get the basic requirements I needed to do to be successful in that class."
