"SWOS offers an educational environment that is seldom found anywhere. The student is more important than the standards, and the learning is more important than the budget. This is where education make sense!"

"I had origanally gone to three other highschools before I found SWOS. At SWOS the teachers taught me to be creative in ways that I was never able to use before. I was allowed to make my own choices and I was in charge of being responsible for my own education. It taught me that in real life there is no one to blame but myself and that if I want to be respected by others I need to respect myself and also to respect all those around me. The trips were amazing along with pearsonal involvement from all the teacers and pearsonal help in whatever way that I asked. They let me be free to make my own decisions and mistakes. I couldn't have found another school more wonderfull to graduate from and I give them credit for helping me become a better student and a better pearson."

"I too enjoyed April's SWOS Gallery Night (my 4th) --- High-schoolers can be so difficult to connect with, but through your Gallery Nights you've created periodic moments where it is possible to genuinely connect(regarding school & education)with my child, and I think it's a great thing. Another thing I've really gotten a kick out of, during Gallery Nights is seeing the flashes of enthusiasm and sense of personal pride & accomplishments shine through the students, despite their best efforts at that teenage shell of cynical-aloofness. ~~ very cool! Cortez area kids are lucky your Charter has been renewed, so they will continue have an option toward receiving a fulfilling, complete High School experience, in an alternative manner. Bravo, to all involved with SWOS's"

"To SWOCS I and my husband would like to praise the teachers and students for the awesome job they all did for Gallery nite! It was so well done! To see the difference from the fall gallery nite and this springs gallery nite - what a difference! All the work the teachers spent and done with these kids and the work the students did themselves was all worth the effort! We so enjoyed everything we saw. Even with our own son, what a difference a few months can make. Thanks for all that you all do for our kids and for making a difference in their lives."

"SouthWest Open School was really a great influence on the lives of myself and my brother. My brother and I both spent all of our high school years at SWOS and it was great. We got to see so many things that wouldn't have been possible without SWOS. The life experience we got, and the trips we went on were priceless. After I graduated I could really tell that I grew as a person. I learned a ton, got to see some great stuff, and had a wonderful high school experience in general. Now how many people can say that?"
