"The Daniel Boone Area High School isn't that different from other local schools. Overall, the education system in the United States is a joke in comparison to the rest of the world, however, this is a review of the Daniel Boone High School, not the excuse of an education system present in the United States. Teachers in Boone come as they do in any other school district. It is difficult to review teaching staff when they are held back (as are students) by the battery of standardized tests. Standardized tests include the Advanced Placement exams run by the College Board that follow a strict curriculum and fail to match college courses, the new Keystone benchmark testing (again, good intentions, but solves nothing), the SAT, ACT, and surely a few others taken by few students. There are multiple maintenence problems with the school, poor spending choices, outdated technologies, etc. Most of the problems faced in Daniel Boone are the same across the United States. COmpared to others, the school is average -- the school makes no attempts at freeing itself from the battery of nonsense and ancient, ineffective teaching, but yet shields itself from severe drug usage and crime."

"I consider myself to be an intelligent person who has a desire for knowledge. I am taking three Honors classes, excluding Algebra II, of which I am at the Accelerated level (which I am "delighted" to tell you is to be eliminated, along with Conceptual and Honors classes that are available at the AP level). The Algebra II class I am enrolled in is a horror to me, and I am fully aware I am not the only one who feels this way. Until I discovered a tutor outside of school, I consistently received C's, D's, and even failed some quizzes and tests, all of that while going to after school tutoring with my teacher. Now, I have an A in the class. If that isn't proof of the inadequacy, I don't know what is. Now I will talk about the security guards (a reported $90,000 per year). These guards, although I was told there would be regular bag checks, do absolutely nothing to guard the security of this school. KIDS REGULARLY COME INTO SCHOOL HIGH, AND SOME GET HIGH WHILE IN THE BUILDING. Not to be derogatory, but a high percentage of them are old men. One even has a cane! How is that secure? This school needs to improve. I am not getting a quality education at Daniel Boone."

"DB is one of those schools that can go either way. If your child is a good student, who wants to do well, then they will thrive at DB. However, if your child doesn't care about school, or if they seem to get into a lot of trouble, that will only continue to be a problem. The school has tried to crack down, by instituting mesh or clear bookbags only, and having periodic searches, but the reality is that it really doesn't do much. During a search, the guards hardly even glanced inside of my bookbag before moving me along, and they did not even bother to check my sports bag. It would have been all too easy for me to sneak in banned substances or materials, something that is a problem at Boone. I see more and more people coming to school on drugs, and it disrupts the learning as we have to remain inside of our classrooms until the person is escorted out. The academics are alright, but a lot of self teaching is required. For me to get good grades, I often have to teach myself the subjects because the teachers don't really do their jobs very well. All in all, it's an alright school for the motivated student, but don't expect much. I have hope for the new superintendent to change things."

"Great school? Not so much... I came from one of the most bad mouthed school district in Pennsylvania and it was a 100 times better than Boone. Some teachers are just way too harsh and don't bother to help. You're behind? That sucks. Find a way to catch up. Its not a good school at all. Can't wait to graduate to be honest. There are some good people in the staff, but not all of them are as great and perfect as they claim to be. And racism problems in 2013? You need to work on that...seriously. Boone does help out the community in a lot of stuff, but it needs to fix a lot of things. Sincerely, a senior of the class of 2014"

"The school is just failing. There was a math class where 1/3 of the class had below a 2.0. What was being done about it? Nothing. The school claims somebody went into see the teacher "teach"...and the teacher was fine. Really? Grades are awful, kids are failing, nobody cares. Want a lot of study halls? This is the school to attend! Students have been known to have 6 study halls in 1 week! Really? You have choices...this should be low on the list."
