"My child has attended this school district from k - 4th grade and is a special education student. The special education in the district is severely unsatisfactory. The department says one thing and tells you about the wonderful programs that they offer and the classroom settings and how well their system works. But its not. They tell you about how they offer smaller class sizes (26 students instead of 32),with 2 teachers and an aid but what they do not tell you is that there are 2 or more 'smaller' classes that are combined and taught as one big classroom that share those 2 teachers and 1 aid.Be prepared to spend alot of time yourself working with your child because if your child falls behind they will not attempt to try and help them and will just pass them to the next grade and pass the buck to the next teacher"

"Having children in the district for 11 years I can disagree with all the below, First most of it is parents expect teachers to be babysitters and do not get involved. One of my children has been top ten, however she applies herself and wants to do well...in state testing she did fantastic...these are the tests that are throughout the state and if our teachers aren't teaching then the children wouldn't do well! When I needed to talk with a teacher, they have always been avaliable and again, it takes three, parent, teacher child. Another child of mine that isn't top of school, gets the extra help needed, not just given....Asked for and followed up with. There are limited sports yes, but there are and there are many community based sports also run throughout the year. Remember things will not just come to you...YOU need to PUT in :)"

"I am not impressed at all with Dover Elementary school. I would consider it mediocre. I'm looking to move out of the School District."

"Staff at this school needs to incorporate better interaction guidelines with their students and parents. The school offers very little assistance to a fast becoming multi-cultural elementary school. Although President Bush's 'No Child Left Behind' program is a part of this school, it is not accessible to children, that may want or can benefit from it. Private tutors are encouraged. And sadly, many parents cannot afford them. Extra-Curricular activities for children to enjoy, are lacking. The District is fast growing, it would be encourageable to grow with its community."

"Followup to previous post - There is a growing Hispanic population in town, and the school needs to obtain someone with bilingual skills to facilitate better communication with the Hispanic parents. IMHO. Sincerely, The parents volunteer from the previous post."
