"There are so many classes available that I had never even heard about and they are constantly expanding. The teachers are amazing and incredibly patient and caring. The workload for AP classes, however, is extremely overwhelming."

"The teachers are great here at shs. They were fair and reasonable when it came to homework. If there was a football game they wouldn't give us too much homework or no work at all."

"There is not a lot of peer pressure at school. Everyone seems to get along fairly well. We are mainly of Latin backgrounds with a few Asians, but other than that not very diverse."

"At this school I never really had a problem with people. The only time I experienced tough times with students was my senior year. I was pretty influenced by my classmates and I feel that we're really open minded people and accept different sexual orientations from the students. There was quite a few cliques though. Like any other high school."

"My experience with teachers at this school has been considerably interesting since I've been taught by teachers who are extremely passionate and genuinely care about students as well as teachers who, quite frankly, only care about the money and benefits. Unsurprisingly, the teachers who care more about students and the learning process are AP class teachers. The fact that their is no monetary compensation for taking on the challenge and extra work of an AP class is already a point in their favor. Many of these AP teachers are truly supportive of all their students; I attribute much of my academic success to their influence and help. However, it would be fair to say that a substantial amount of teachers only take advantage of the benefits and job security the profession provides. Their apathy towards whether students engage in the learning process greatly promotes a fixed-mindset student culture and therefore translates to apathetic students as well. Apathy and a lack of appreciation of education is prominent in both the teacher and student bodies. Fortunately, with the expansion of the AP program, the number of dedicated and hard-working students has been slowly but steadily increased within the years; I am hopeful that eventually the teachers and students both realize that their potential to succeed and academically compete with other high-ranking institutions could be very high through simply caring about and appreciating education."
