"My daughter attended first grade and had a very good experience with the teacher and other classmates. We were very happy with her performance in class and our only complaint was the being parents we had observed some favoritism going on in the classroom. At the end of the year, when the awards were given out, one classmate received a citizenship award and did not even live in the community and was from a different town. I don't think that was fair. Citizenship means that the student is involved in the community as well as the classroom. So with that being said, I truly believe that the student received that award because of her parents being involved with the class and teacher. My daughter over excelled in spelling but was not recognized for that. I don't think it's fair that you have to be in a clique for your son or daughter to get special attention. I was very disappointed with the way things went at the end of the year. Hopefully, this won't happen again for the students who will be attending 2nd grade..For my daughter, she will be attending a new school. Hopefully we will have a better experience as far as parents being involved and teacher interaction with that."
