"Sure, the school corrals the students, but the students look as if they lack the spirit to actually care! The leadership cannot be effective if the students don't understand things that need to be done - my child complains that some of the teachers aren't very proactive when it comes to actually teaching. I see the amount of work that is given to my child, and how that work seems to follow home. At first I didn't believe my child when she told me that the teacher didn't collect the work, but when I checked myself, the teacher never intended on it! Also, the administration keeps making promises on making the school year more fluid, and yet it seems like it doesn't work at all. So much trash on the walkways, fights and arrests that are publicized, and even the censorship scandal from a previous term - unattractive."

"EHS has improved in many areas. I like receiving phone calls from the principal and/or staff regarding important happenings. The College and Career Center has become much more helpful for the students."

"Discipline needs to be improved. There are frequent fights among some students and arrests by law enforcement. The majority of students do not seem to have pride in their campus as there is trash left around the common areas by the students. Most of the teachers are committed to provide excellent instruction, but they are dealing with a diverse population of students who seem to be putting in their time until they can legally leave. There are good aspects of Edgewater; the magnet programs, AP classes, various clubs, band, chorus and sports teams help enhance the students experience at Edgewater. The Edgewater Foundation and a core group of parents are trying hard to make the school a better place for all students. Hopefully, the reconstruction of the facilities, which is expected to commence the summer of 2008, will raise standards and boost students pride and desire to learn."

"My daughter is a sophomore under the EST Magnet PRogram, and she is doing great. I am not so active inthe PTA which I do regret, but, overall, I like what I see happening to my daughter's education. The one thing that the school needs is renovation - a new campus, just like what they did with Jones HIgh School!"

"I have been very happy with this school for the time my daughter has attended. The programs are helping her do what she needs to get into college"
