"Great school. Have many classes that keep my child interested. A lot of clubs and events going on for seniors. Chocolate selling to help pay for senior dues is good thing too."

"Edward R. Murrow H.S. remains as special a place as it was when I was a student here. Our dedicated and loyal staff includes seasoned educators, new educators and many other alumni. Our student centered learning environment gives students the opportunity to take part in their own learning and prepare for college. We offer a variety of courses and our screened theater, art and music programs continue to produce talented and successful graduates. In addition, we have an incredibly tolerant and acceptant learning environment which helps students discover their interests as they learn to make their way in the world. It's a wonderful place and I'd recommend it without hesitation."

"To be honest I find many of these reviews to be misleading as to the Murrow that operates today in comparison to what murrow once was. Murrow was created on the idea of an independent work environment. You had to be a motivated student. The hallways were relaxed with students hanging out, there were no bells, there was four cycles which you received a report card for. They had interesting classes which drew students attention (I.E. I know someone who graduated class of 92 that took calligraphy and AP human geography) Now, murrow is a jail cell. It has lost everything that made it individual from other city schools. The deans patrol the hallways like its a penitentiary center and suspension rates are apparently at an all time high. Any elective class that I opted to take was cut (AP Psych, regular psych, Ap human geo, etc) As a senior who has seen murrow transform from a comfortable work environment to this monstrosity of a school, I can say that few if any changes have been for the better. Yes, changes have occurred because of the increasingly strict DOE, however the way in which Murrow has interpreted these new rules has only caused a less than satisfactory school environment."

"As a member of the 1st 4-year graduating class, I am proud to call E.R. Murrow my academic home. The teachers have always practised a hands-on approach to learning and the curriculum was very challenging. Murrow teaches students how to think critically; define their own morality and fosters a sense of community obligation. The founding Principal was compassionate and involved in his students academic and personal lives. Without him, I know of several former students who would not have made it, myself included."

"This school is excellent for self-motivators and/or artists. The music and theater program is incredible. Even if you are not in these programs you are guaranteed to enjoy the talents of the school in the plays, concerts and SING performances. I attended in the late 90's and got a lot out of the self-sufficiency of the school. There are no bells to signal the end of periods and students are free to roam the halls throughout the day. The idea of the school is to prepare students for college and eliminate hand-holding. It was a great experience for me."
