"Mount Vernon has many educational advantages and opportunities but the way that minorities are treated and looked down upon by one too many staff members and students based off of religion, race, sexuality, etc. is unreal. Most people (staff and students) either don't catch it or just blatantly ignore it. This school needs to understand that they are getting more diverse and need to work with a new growing, diverse community."

"Mt.Vernon High School is a great place to go in learn at. It's a school where the teachers care about you and there are opportunities for everyone that come. Not something you can expect for a school in indiana. They have a delay start every Wednesday and they use that to help students out in the morning with any work that they need."

"I love the teachers and the activities I have been involved in. The AP classes are challenging enough, but the teachers work really hard to ensure that each student understands the material and takes classes that match their level of course work. As a student, you can tell that the teachers care about you."

"I have been going to Mt. Vernon High School since Freshman year and I am now a Junior. I enjoy going to Mt. Vernon but there are many things I would change. The main thing I would change is the diversity. Most of the students are white, republican, straight, male, and farmers, which is understandable because we are a small farming town. Our sports are very political, you have to know someone to make any kind of sports team. Our food is very expensive and it is not very good. The thing I like the most about Mt. Vernon is our teachers, the vast majority of our teachers are very good. Most of them are there because they love teaching not because they have to be there to get paid. I've learned a lot from studying at Mt. Vernon and I wouldn't move schools even if I could."

"Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville, IN offers great teachers in a smaller, personal environment. Many activities are available for students to get involved in and we are now a 1:1 district (one computer per student/staff). My kids are thriving!"
