"This is truly a great school! Our children love the teachers, and are getting a high quality education. The location is truly amazing too."

"Black Rock is an OK school. I have 2 children who have been there since it opened. It is what I would consider to be an average school. Not spectacular and not awful. Yes, they have some great teachers and the technology is amazing, but I feel that the direction from the administration is not all that great and the staff is limited by the attitude and direction the administration take. It is called a gifted and talented focus school, but I don't feel that they are really meeting the needs of the gifted and talented students all that well. There are individual teachers who have done a great job with my kids, who are advanced academically, but the school programming for these kids is weak and so it all depends on the teacher you get. I also think that this school does not handle bullying very well. Several parents have talked to me about issues they have had. It is more about what is causing the bully to act that way and being compassionate to them then protecting the child who is being bullied."

"Having just left a local charter school, we have been very pleased with Black Rock and are thrilled we moved our son for his 3rd grade year. He is thriving and enjoying his school experience much more than he did before."

"This is the 2nd year that my child has gone there. The teachers are mostly very good but there are the exceptions. I am particularly concerned about the overcrowding and the impact on resources that has inevitably resulted. We are looking at other options since we don't see the district doing taking much initiative to fix things and the teachers can't do much on their own."

"My son was in first grade last year, Black Rock's first year. We're very impressed with this school. Teachers are engaging and highly qualified; principal is communicative, and the extra activities the school offers are great. (Academic activities anyway -- I'm not sure about sports-related extracurricular activities because we haven't sought those out. However, speaking of sports, my son loved PE. The teacher is fantastic and she plans really cool activities for the kids.) The thing I'm most excited about is the technology in the school. Their computer labs and the instructional technology in the classrooms are first-rate -- and I'm an Information Technology professional. This year, my second son is starting kindergarten, and we're extremely pleased to have our children in this this excellent school."
