"Best school ever. I have been here since kindergarden and now I am in fifth. Not a single teacher has been mean. You have got to love this school. Awesome events!!! See, I actually like to learn and go to school. Now I actually take the time to study! LOL"

"Jan Schiff is a great school! My daughter has been there for 3 years and we couldn't be happier with all of her teachers so far. I only hear positive things about the other teachers too. The school has grown a lot in the past year and will continue to grow unless the district re-zones, but that should be expected as the community is growing. I do not see teaching to the test. My daughter has learned to write amazingly well for a second grader. She is being taught advanced math concepts. And she is having fun at school. We have a new principal who seems wonderful so far. The previous principal was great too. The PTA is really great and raises a lot of money for the school."

"We moved to this school from out of state over the summer. Our two children (kindergarten and third) had attended an excellent small, private Montessori school before our move, so we were nervous about the change in size, structure, and philosophy. Both of my children love their teachers and classes, and they continue to learn and expand their skills. My third grade son is learning literature analysis skills that impress this Lit major and former high school English teacher. The admin and staff run a tight ship and have handled the rapid growth in enrollment with grace and professionalism. The PTA is welcoming, active, and effective. All of these committed folks create an environment where students thrive. Kudos to Schiff."

"The facility is very crowded. This listed enrollment at 693 is not correct and is an older number. Enrollment for 2013-2104 is appromximately 1,000 children. The density is so packed that they have moved fifth grade into "temporary structures". A nice phrase for "expensive trailers because we failed to plan". This adminstration has clearly been caught sleeping at the wheel. I have even caught wind that certain test scores have been slipping as enrollment has steadily increased. There is also an element of not being able to retain teachers for extended periods, making it tough for parents to evaluate the appropriate teachers for our children. Transportation is terrible. If you live too close to the school, you will be responsible for getting your children to and from school, eventhough your taxes pay for that."

"The teachers spend the majority of the day emphasizing "test taking skills". The emphasis at Jan Schiff Elementary is to get great test scores. The learning component and structured teaching is not evident in the third grade or fifth grade. The number of children enrolled at the school clearly indicates a growing area, but the overcrowding gets worse each passing year. The children are friendly and the classroom behavior is well controlled, but I cannot find any other positives to discuss. The PTO is run very well and the organization is very good at fundraising money and resources for the school."
