"We moved to Topeka from Illinois because my son was diagnosed as ADHA/mildly autistic (aspergers) and this school system would not help out with the assistance he needed in order to succeed in the classroom or any other social environment for that matter (even though the doctor at the hospital in Peoria where he received his evaluation said that the school was required by law to get him the occupational therapy he needed) they fought us tooth and nail so my husband took a transfer to Topeka for a better school experience for our son. However, my daughter, who was also diagnosed with ADHD had Mr. James for a teacher, and let me tell you - he is one EXCELLENT teacher! He worked with the doctors and our family to get her the medical treatment she needed, the assistance in the classroom she needed and programs to assist her with her studies. Mr James is the ONLY reason I gave this school two stars. It is a friendly environemt for sure, but the education of children is much more important than a few smiling faces. (Mr. Kruz was principal when we attended - since then he has stepped down, but he was pretty good. Not the best (lacked follow through at times), but good."

"King School is a great school. Overall the teachers are outstanding. Most have a caring attitude and are genuinely interested in what is best for each child. They are willing to hear from parents. They encourage parent involvement and volunteerism in every aspect possible. The school is kept very clean. They go out of their way to foster a healthy environment for the children in their cleanliness. Children are celebrated in many ways throughout the year for in school activities and activities they participate in outside the school curriculum."
