    "Granite bay contains many problems and graduating from here I know first hand. It's true the Ap and IB classes are good but if you expect to end up is a top notch college, think again. The teachers give little information about most subject and the ones that do teach only share the basic idea. The majority of the students go to Chico because they have trouble getting through the ap and IB tests given due to the lack of knowledge. The success rate is acceptable but most students score the bare minimum. In class everyday students learn how to solve, for example, x+2=y but on the day of the test are faced with x^5/2+(x-3)^2=y. The school spends most of the money of sports equipment hoping to collect more funds from parents and students are left with old ripped textbooks to study from. If are are enrolled here I hope you know how to learn by yourself, because that's what a lot of days will have to look like if you plan ti go to a well know college."

    "Granite Bay has great programs for both AP and IB goers, most people chose the former, and I strongly recommend them even for those who are afraid of the workload! The AP teachers are great, I strongly admire the history skills of a certain Mr. Valentine and Mr. Dell'Orto. Most teachers on this campus are stressed, probably from the volume of students/workload... This is high school, so if you aren't applying yourself you won't be noticed by teachers, athletics coaches, and potential college recruiters. Sadly, with the sheer number of kids, (and it's increasing every year) the counselors are overrun with students so I would recommend outsourcing... Get involved with clubs, debate team, Band/Choir, and any of our Sports teams!! GO GRIZZLIES!"

    "As a student i have expirienced first hand the out of control rumor mill this school has. The drama is so intense and it makes it very hard to keep up with the school work. This school is challenging but if you can take the drama and block it out you can do great there. The classes they have to offer are amazing. You have many opprotunities to succeed but you have to be willing to work hard."

    "I have two children who just graduated from Granite Bay High School. I cannot say enough good things about the school, staff, administration and students. GBHS is very devoted to the students and their well being. They invest in anti drug/alcohol messages, tolerance and esteem building. The majority of the staff are creative and very energetic. The kids love them! The principal, Mr. McGuire, is a very caring person. He is exactly the type of person any school would want as their school leader. Their sports programs are also excellent. I have boy/girl twins who had different circles of friends. Both groups included the most responsible, caring and polite young adults you would ever want to meet. I credit that to, not only my kid's great choice of friends, but the parent involvement in the Granite Bay area and the school itself. Kids who want drugs will find them at any school they attend. I believe the responsibility for that falls on the individual and in the case of minors, their parent's involvement in their lives as well. Its easier to blame the school than to look within. Don't blame GBHS. They turn out hundreds of wonderful, successful young adults every year."

    "GBHS has a terrible drug problem. If you need advice or resources for your teenager if they are using, google "pathway to prevention". I found them online. It was started by Mothers whose teenagers graduated GBHS as addicts. It is much more common than the faculty will admit."
