"I attended Smithsburg as a student from 2007-2011 and I i hate it, i only get bully and school do not stop it. They treat me like child. I had a disable with reading and writing and they do not help me out."

"I attended Smithsburg as a student in my freshman and sophomore year. All in all, it wasn't bad. There's no doubt smithsburg is a big agricultural, predominately white school, and as an african american I have felt overwhelmed at times (zero diversity here, I know my graduating class had about..4 or 5 black men, I can't even recall any other races). I had no trouble fitting in socially though, and at the end of the day school is what you make of it. The teachers were very nice, and I feel like Smithsburg definitely prepared me for college, even in the beginning 2 years i attended. To anyone who didn't attend the middle schools: I attended Smithsburg after moving from the midwest. It took a little adjusting, but I did find a nice group of friends from joining sports. To anyone new to Washington County schools (especially Smithsburg), EVERYONE has grown up with each other. Worth noting. Small side note: I know there has been a new principal/VP since I've left smithsburg, but I have NEVER seen the principal before. I didn't even know what he looked like. Don't know if that's good or bad, but definitely worth noting. The Vice Principal was always there, and he was very approachable."

"I was very pleased with this school. The teachers I had were great. The administration, including the current principal and guidance counselors need to be done away with. They are absent and seems disinterested. I was struggling in a class and asked a counselor to help, she flat out refused, telling me to 'deal with it.' I was offended, complained to the principal, who did nothing, and left that school shortly thereafter."

"It is a great school. Nothing bad happens there and there is enough extra curricular activities to keep kids busy and out of trouble. The only thing i have to complain about is that you never hardly see the principal. The students and teachers are great. I really love it there."
