"We have been very pleased with SWM and have HIGH HOPES for our new principal, Mr. Careher. This school has been in need of some positive infusion of professionalism & good energy, overcoming a recent trend of apathy and retaining ineffective teachers! We have been extremely fortunate to have wonderful teachers and the intervention of Mr. Christina, 7th grade vice-principal, in coping with a less-than-desirable teacher. This school has tremendous potential to be one of the best in Guilford County-- hopefully our "new management" will "weed out" teachers who are not qualified and bring renewed cooperation and respect between staff and students!"

"Southwest is a GREAT school. My son is currently enrolled as a 6th grader and I have had FANTASTIC communication with his 2-main teachers (Mrs. Gold and Mrs. Cowie) along with Ms. Davis the guidance counselor. They've answered many questions that my husband and I have had and responded back to emails or phone calls. My son is an A/B student and LOVES school this year compared to last year. He doesn't want to miss a day. That says alot to me as a parent. People are all different, all I can say is try the school and see for yourself-I did. You be the judge. It's the same as with anything else, everyone has good opions and bad opions-experience it and you decide. I can't vote for Principal and Parent as I have not experience that as of yet."

"My child's AIMM program has been somewhat of a joke this year. The teacher has not taken time to adequately teach various math concepts and blows through each regardless of whether the students have mastered the concepts. I emailed a teacher last week to inquire about registration for next year and never received a response. I then phoned the school and was sent to the guidance counselor's voice mail. She never returned my call. A previous concern that forced me to deal with this same guidance counselor resulted in the counselor actually giggling at me while I was trying to voice my concerns. This has been a horrible start to my child's middle school experience."

"I have a child in one of the EC classes, the teacher is one of the best she ever had.But the staff is cold to the needs of parents, and so is the administration."

"I believe that the teachers do care but are woefully outnumbered and overpowered. My husband and I have tried to talk to the staff and they seem interested in the moment, but I think are too overwhelmed to focus on our child. We are seriously considering other education options."
