"Sachem East is a wonderful place to educate Special Education students. The staff and administration is very understanding and accepting of 'special behaviors' that may be deemed inappropriate or disrespectful in other school districts. Special students are easily mainstreamed into regular ed classes. The money spent on Special Education is by far more than the funds allocated in other wealthier districts. Although the campus at East may appear to be unruly. laxed, and unsafe, during the school day, it allows for special ed and disadvantaged kids to have control of how the school is operated. In fact, that the parents of special ed students havemore of a a say in behavior codes and curriculm than the parents of the students with greater advantages. Teachers have little input in what is done, and are discouraged from giving failing grades. Sachem is perfect for needy families and students with special behavior needs."

"I'm a past student and I wasn't lost in the large group of kids at my school. If you ask for help every and i mean every teacher will offer extra help as often as you like if you are academically unstable. You just need to ask and they will help you out. It is the kids responsibility to maintain their grades and the parents' job to teach them these values. I had a great experience at Sachem North High School."

"I totally agree with the posting dated February 12, 2007, saying that Sachem School District is for the smart students and sports. If you have a child that is in special education many are getting lost in the system and no one cares! Also, correct in saying that the children that need the most help don't get it! We need to get a general diploma back for all the students who can't do the regents! How many more students have to drop out of school?"
