"Although some may argue that Elrod's location is not the most desirable, its stellar Educator Performance outshines its surrounding community demographics. 1st Grade Teacher Mrs. Zenovia Crier is a primary example of excellence in our school system. It is very apparent that Mrs. Crier has a love for the profession and a sincere interest and concern for her students. Her eagerness to provide a learning environment that draws out the strengths in all her pupils is evidence of this. Under Mrs. Crier s tutelage my son completed his Kindergarten year reading at a 2nd Grade level and finished his 1st grade year reading at a 5th grade level. Like many students he had some issues with bullying and Mrs. Crier was very helpful with instigating the Zero Tolerance for Bullying initiative that I have recently noticed the school being more active in. She has been a phenomenal Teacher and an excellent mentor in the development of his educational journey. It is the Teachers at Elrod Elementary such as Mrs. Crier, which make this school an asset to parents and the community."

"I wanted to say that I am fully impressed with Ms. Crier. I was apprehensive about placing my child at this school because I heard of all of its shortcomings. My friend told me this woman is amazing. My friend sat me down and allowed me to listen to her son read and it blew me away. I signed my child up at Elrod and I was blown away. At first, the class was intimidating. My son was like-we work too hard. Then, my son came home talking about Abraham Lincoln, the sun and how it is 93 million miles away, and Harvard University. My son loves to read. He is reading chapter books and saying things like-Mrs. Crier said that I can go to college and become a good citizen. He also brings home family projects. I am so proud of my son. Also, Mrs. Crier calls our home to tell us positive things my son has been doing. Also, her webpage has all sorts of info on it. I asked Mrs. Crier why does she work so hard, and she said-it is my job. I get paid to provide a service for your son. Plus, I would want the same sort of education for my child, nieces, and nephews. This woman is on point. Most of the children in her class reads above grade level. I cannot say how thankful I am."

"My child attended Elrod since the First Grade at which time the school helped her educational growth tremendously. She's currently in the Fifth grade an no longer attends Elrod due the declining emphasis on academics and the failing results in TAKS scores. Some of the teachers there are there for the Kids and sad to say but some are there just for the paycheck."

"I have 3 children at Elrod, and the teachers there are excellent. They stress personal behavior as well as academics. They could use more parental involvement. Their G/T program is phenomenal."

"My neighborhood school and I won't send my kids. Racially and socioeconomically imbalanced. Mostly latchkey apartment kids. They are trying to make a difference, but until they can entice the neighborhood kids, it's tough going..."
