"I have had my child enrolled in Holbrook twice in their lifetime. My child has severe dyslexia so when I call the teacher to discuss the big red marks on her papers I hear, she will call you book which she never did. So I wrote an email because she said email was best, never received an email back. So I left a message for the principal and the principal never called me back either. It seems there is no concrete policy on teacher parent conferences and I can't go running to the school all times of the day as I work 30 miles away. The only one who answered the phone was the nurse and she was quite helpful with other matters."

"My son started in PreK and will start 3rd fall 2011. He struggled in 1st but made it to 2nd where his grades continued to slip thoughout the year.I had begged the new asst principal at beginning of school year to please get my child some math tutoring (something they would not/could not do for him in 1st grade). . Asst Principal said " aftter 1st 6 week review if he needed addl help he would get it.". That never materialized even though he made the lowest math scores in the class. I did find private tutors but had no help from the school. Both teachers were very good and i think their hands were tied and thus couldnt help the kids more. The administrations thinking seems to be why help the younger ones if the school isnt going to get the govt funding? Final semester the teachers agreed to come to school early to help the struggling children. Although very helpful it should have been offered much sooner. As likeable and smart as the teachers are I will be transferring my child to a different school. The cirriculum is challenging and my child learned alot but feel that by staying he will continue to get lost in the system"

"My child is in the 4th grade at Holbrook. My child reports that some of the kids in her class disrupt the learning and when the teacher sends the kids to the office, whatever is being done is not changing anything. The kids continue to again the next day. I have been around the school and notice no real leadership. The teachers really care."

"My oldest attended Holbrook and I have two attending now. I love my daughters teacher, Ms Collier, her kinder teacher. She sets goals and limits for all of her students and she communicates with the parents. On the other hand my son, who is in the 2nd grade class of Ms.Jones, may bring home homework one week and not the other. I have tried to schedule P/T conferences but no response. And I would like to see the students take more outside of the classroom field trips. We pay enough in taxes for it, though I believe alot of the students there don't live in the school zone. Who's noticed the jump in students. My daughters class has about 22 students, the ratio s/b 1 to 18 and they are trying to squeeze more in her class."
