"Terrible ratings after 2011! Since the new leadership at this school, the quality of teachers has gotten worse! They are not following the teachings of a Christian God."

"Sorry, Parent! You're not going to find one high school in Houston devoid of drugs or alcohol. That is just a fact of teenage life now. However, at Houston Christian no one is going to try and pressure their friends into the drug and alcohol scene. It's extremely easy to stay away from. Actually, you only find it if you look for it. The students here are genuinely nice people and the academics are challenging. I know I will be ready for college considering I am already exempt from three college classes because of my education here at HC. Also, you aren't going to find a school devoid of rumors and drama. I can actually say that as a well liked and well known HC student I have yet to be involved in one rumor. Its easy to stay away from. Also, rumors die quickly. The parents are amazing and my mom has made a lot of friends. It's nice to see their involvment everywhere. You can be who you want to be at this school, and I love it."

"HCHS IS NOT A SCHOOL FOR MINIORITIES! The turn over of MINIORITIES is shocking. MINIORITIES start there but usually withdraw after the 1st year. It is clear their is a racial under tone which comes from the top. They promote leadership but I would never want my child to follow the Dean or Principal. The Dean is arrogant and he and the principal degrade the students. This school does not display Christian qualities. The turn over rate of teachers is greater than in public schools. They call themselves a college predatory school but they do a poor job."

"The school has a heavy basis towards families of a certain faith and income bracket. The school has a very strange feel to it in terms of atmosphere. There have been allegations made about students being asked to watch other students and report to higher ups on how the students act on an off campus. Home work is 3-4 hours a night minumum. Teachers leave often and will tell you tales you cannot believe after they leave about the administration. There have been allegations regarding student misconduct that goes unpunished if you are of the right faith or from the right side of the track. Diversity is so lacking that the few students who actually brave the often hostile atmosphere rarely finish. The school has so much to offer in terms of facilities it needs a major top-down house cleaning and someone in charge who would run a school true to its name."

"The school's initial welcome is pleasant. I read reviews on the school from several before making my final selection & they all note the teacher turnover rate was very high & teacher interaction with students, particularly student-athletes was poor. I concur on both accounts. The lack of professionalism from (newly appointed) teachers & teachers for (freshman class) was unbearable. Several incidents from teachers calling students nicknames, imposing low self-esteem issues with students questioning their own abilities, accusations of drug usage, attempted cover-ups of mistakes made by teachers, etc. Cultural diversity is something the school is adjusting to & facing head on due to new athletic faculty. The ratio of all minorities is disproportionate, even female/male ration for all grade levels. The school has things to offer, however it is eons away from being a stellar academic private school for the selected masses that seek top academics, personal development for their children in a positive environment, & readiness for "real world" interaction, be it furthering educational goals or professional work environment."
