"Sure, Northland has it's flaws, but as does every school. There are many things that still need improvement, but I've seen steps in what I believe to be the right direction in my time there. You can't ask for a better faculty or number of opportunities presented to the students. From international trips for the Fine Arts students to the nationally acclaimed debate team, Northland gives students the ability to be involved in a number of activities. For me, I was able to participate in choir, theater, swim team, and academic meets, and AP classes all at once. Changes I would like to see include more financial support for the arts. I know there is a plan to build an auditorium, but I would genuinely like to see it built in my life time. I've seen the money put into the football program. I've seen the money put into the math and science department. Now, I'd like to see a stronger arts program established so that other students can experience something new and different for them. I'd also like to see more support for a swim team, because after I graduated, they removed swimming as a sport and I was incredibly disappointed. So maybe in several years, Northland should consider investing in a pool, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. There are also the long standing traditions of Fall Festival, Valentine's Day, and Spiritual Renewal Day, which are all personal favorites. Valentine's day was possibly my very favorite because the juniors and seniors deliver flowers and heart-shaped balloons around the elementary and secondary campuses. We can take pictures with Cupid and listen to the singing telegrams that people send to their friends. It's a fun day to be at school that day. Even though Northland isn't perfect, I wouldn't want to have graduated from anywhere else. Northland is a place where I am always welcome and a place that became my second home. The people there really did become my family."

"Overall, I loved most of my teachers. Sure there were a few along the way (3 or less) that weren't my favorite, but each teacher is incredibly knowledgable about their subject and truly go the extra mile for each of their students. For me personally, I know not every English teacher would be willing to meet with one student in the local Starbucks on a Saturday to help them write one college essay. The administration is also really good about listening to the concerns of the students in regards to the faculty. Even if a teacher's style doesn't line up with a student's learning style, I know for a fact that each teacher there would be willing to work with them outside of class to insure the student learns the information. The faculty at this school does much more than teach. They care, the mentor, and they help in any way they possibly can."

"We used public schools for eight years, and we had to get out. The schools now are too big, too political, cater to the squeaky wheels (and there are plenty), and tie us into a community where Christian values are not really the norm anymore. At Northland, we have racial diversity, which is excellent, but despite our diversity, families are linked by Christian values and Christian goals. Teachers are caring and nurturing, and encouraged (not prohibited) to discuss their faith in the classroom. Classes are small and managed well. Kids are perpetually involved in extracurricular activities -- and busy kids gets in a lot less trouble these days. Extracurriculars are used to teach faith lessons. We've never regretted the Northland decision."
