"Reading the comments of parents in the past, I find myself in a quandry as to why it took so long for a change to be made in leadership. In an educational era where TAKS scores negate the success of schools, students, teachers, and principals I understand that the new principal has a great deal of pressure on him to change the overall impression and atmosphere of the school to that of one that is positive and productive. I believe that more needs to be done in the way of implementing enrichment programs (during and afterschool) as well as exposing the children to programs and classes that are already in place in other schools in HISD. After-school programs, such as math, science and computer labs would expose students to activities that they would not get in the regular day. This would be more constructive and productive than the present."

"Pleasantville Elementary has undergone several transitions with their Instructional Leader this semester. The new principal, however, seems to motivated and interested in student success. He is trying to make changes that will impact student learning and that will allow teachers to ensure that 'no child is left behind.' Although, I agree that changes are needed, I think he's trying to do too much too soon. 'Rome wasn't built in a day!' However, I feel that my son is thriving and will thoroughly prepared for success not just next school year, but will have the skills essential to becoming a productive citizen."

"Pleasantivelle has a new principal who is quickly implementing prorams and activities that other elementary schools have long been providing. With his guidance, the school has great potential for once again being a respected campus. My daughter's 2nd grade teacher has taught her so much! My son's PreK teacher is phenomenal! He is doing things we didn't believe that 4-year-olds could do. I was very, very concerned about the welfare of my children in that school, but I believe that the new principal has the right goals in mind."

"I am not really enjoying my children attending Pleasantville Elem. My daughter's Pre-K teacher was wonderful, she really taught my daughter well and stimulated her mind. My sons Pre-K teacher didn't care nor try. Now that one is in Kindergarten and the other the first grade it is the opposite. My daughter does not have a caring teacher that worries about her students learning instead of a paycheck. My son's teacher though is wonderful and teaches him very well and cares about rather he is learning. I do not like nor agree with how the principal runs the school. She is never available, nor does she interact very much with the students. My children did not know who she was until I told them while visiting the school. The nurse pays more attention to the students uniforms than she does there health and well being when an emergency occurs."

"I think Pleasantville Elementary is an excellent school. It provided an environment that was stimulating and exciting for my very active child. He excelled at everything and is a dynamic student and person because of the teachers and other staff members at this school. He is prepared to tackle more difficult tasks with success. They do lack in the extracurricular programs however."
