"I had high hopes for this school and was very disappointed. To be fair, Mr. Hitsman is a very kind and caring man. He listens and addresses concerns. Unfortunately, but the time the problems get to him it is really too late. My child was bullied terribly and the administration talked us out of formalizing the complaint, saying that it would affect the childrens' futures. I wish we had because she was "gang bullied" while the teacher turned a blind eye. We did receive a call from her teacher saying that my daughter was "not right in the head" after she acted out and then sat under her desk and cried. Why her mistreatment was not properly handled is beyond me and I wish I had pushed for formal punishment. My advice, be involved, know the signs of bullying and don't let anyone talk you out of what you know is right. We took our child out of this school mid year because it was so bad and even after administration "handled" the problem it did not get better. Also, read the student handbook and know the rules the staff and administration should follow. Staff, care more about the students than getting a union rep in to protect yourself. It is their education you are derailing."

"Teachers at this school are supported by great administrators! When the teachers are able to do their job, the quality of teaching is passed on to the students. The students are able to do such a great job because they are inspired by teachers who really care about their students. There is a real community spirit at Weatherbee Elementary."
