"My daughter is completing her 2nd year in the academic center. I could not be more pleased with her academic and personal growth. Her teachers have been phenomenal, providing thought provoking assignments that not only prepare her for college (in the 7th and 8th grade), but have helped foster a sense of social conscience. I have a BS in Biological Engineering from the University of Maryland and completed medical school and a surgical residency at Rush; yet, I'm amazed at the caliber of work my daughter is assigned. Kenwood is preparing her to be a successful and compassionate leader."

"My son is a student in the AC (academic center) and I'm contemplating transferring him for 8th grade. At the open house prior enrolling, parents were told that their 7th & 8th graders would have little to no interaction with high school students , well that was a flat out lie. The social emotional transition has been quite painful to watch/live through. The school is severely overcrowded and smaller/ younger students get disrespected/disregarded all the time. The staff is apathetic and unprofessional. The AC director seems overwhelmed and unconcerned. The principal is unreachable and appears a loaf as to the needs of 12 years old transitioning into a high school setting. Maybe things will improve when the students move into a separate building next year. But if things continue in the current fashion, Kenwood AC will fail to attract bright children of all cultural and economic backgrounds."

"I am a Asian American student at Kenwood High School. I am now a junior and have been at the school since 7th grade. I can tell you that this a a great school. I am currently taking two college courses at University of Chicago for free! I have met so many different students from different racial backgrounds. The school is about 80% Black and 10% White and Asian. We all get along and there aren't any fights. I feel completely safe here and is looking forward to my senior year. Kenwood offer over 15 advanced placement courses, plenty of sports& clubs, awesome teachers, four different foreign languages, including, Madarin Chinese!!! I am planning on going to Harvard or continuing at Univ of Chicago."

"Kenwood is by far, one of the best high schools in the city of Chicago. I am a student there, and I would put it above many of the selective enrollment highschools throughout the city. It has a mixture of personalities and interests, although about 90% of the school is African American (not a bad thing). The school takes great kids and makes them extraordinary, while at the same time, it takes bad students and makes them good students also. Kenwood is more rigorous and helpful than many people perceive it to be. Kenwood's mission is COLLEGE, and it does pretty well getting most people there."
