"It's really all about the formation of a man. Being a private school, the faculty's goal is to prepare you for the rest of your life. As a result, they mainly focus on preparing you for the next main step in life, college. To be prepared for college, you have to know how to learn, how to discuss, how to write, and how to act responsibly like an adult. Cistercian prepares you. You easily learn enough academically to be prepared for college, and in fact, whether or not you have a good GPA at Cistercian, because ALL students, without exception, perform very well in college and in the professional world. I say this because both my brothers have done extremely well in college and only have Cistercian's education to thank. Cistercian teaches you how to balance your life. You are taught how to balance academics, sports, extra-curricular activities, a social life, and everything in between. Cistercian is, without a doubt, a challenge. However, this challenge of balance and setting your priorities sets you up to become very successful in life as the students learn good habits, decision making, and how to make a difference. I would send my kids there and would advise everyone else to, at least for the college and academic preparation if not for the formative experience."

"As a prep-school, Cistercian is easily one of the best in the state (and I'd argue nation). Knowing Cistercian my whole life, the success rate of students who have attended Cistercian is 100%. It will prepare you with the curriculum for college and the real world, including discussion of life's hardest or most controversial topics that one you would otherwise never think of. You do not choose classes. You only choose your electives, and for senior year, your science. Teachers make the classes rigorous and the work is manageable, even though it's hard some times. The workload at Cistercian is way more than other schools, however I don't think of this is a negative quality because my brother's tell me the workload is very similar to a college's workload, which is what Cistercian is preparing you for."

"The teachers are geniuses. They are required at least a masters degree and many of them have multiple degrees or are attending to receive more degrees. Most teachers make a real effort to get to know you, to relate to you, to make class more interesting, and anything and everything to make the experience better. Students and teachers equally respect one another: there is a collegiate feeling at the school (which is a good thing for a high school) and, especially Junior/Senior year in high school, they not only encourage and promote original thought and work, but also they promote dialogue, discussion, and treat you like an adult, a respect that all high schoolers deserve. If you are Catholic, it's a great place to really make your faith and understanding yours, and if you're not Catholic, it's still a perfect academic atmosphere in which one can be yourself while being encouraged to think about things that you otherwise wouldn't be able to at a public school (yes, Catholic monks are very accepting of other beliefs and treat them fairly!). Course work is very rigorous and really challenges you as if you were in college (which is it's goal). School becomes your responsibility at Cistercian and makes you learn how to learn, which, in my opinion, is the hardest part about learning. Class size is great because real and deep discussions can come about with class size so small, and without a doubt, everyone there is very smart, college-bound, independent thinkers, regardless of their academic performance. Class isn't about getting the grade, it's about learning."
