"I have been at Cistercian since the 5th grade, and I believe that is the best way to go through Cistercian. After 8 years of being with a group of about 44 guys and having the same Form Master (basically a home room teacher who stays with the class until graduation) you become a family. The Form (the class) is what makes Cistercian "Cistercian", without the Form Cistercian is just another Prep school."

"Cistercian is most likely the top school in Texas, and one of the top schools in the United States. Cistercian however is rigid and does not have any room for schedule flexibility. The Form (the class) takes the same courses throughout Middle School, but in High School you can choose one class (the rest of the classes you take are the same as the other boys in your Form). Although this may seem like a negative, it is a positive due to the size of the class. With only ~44 boys in your Form, the entire Form helps each other with classwork. The most major negative about Cistercian is accommodations for those with learning disabilities. A close friend of mine has Dyslexia, but receives absolutely no accommodations from the school (i.e. no extra time on tests). The teachers are what make academics at Cistercian what they are. They demand, teach, and test at the college level (many alumni comment on how they often tutor in college using their notes and tests from Cistercian). The foreign language department is the weakest department at Cistercian, but they have hired a brand new teaching staff in the last 3 years."

"Their doors are never closed, and are always open to talk about anything. The teachers can be a tutor when you need help academically, or they can be someone to discuss the game last night. Every teacher is only at Cistercian because they love the school and they love to teach. They are some of the most over qualified high school teachers in the country (many are adjunct professors at the University of Dallas)."

"The teachers are geniuses. They are required at least a masters degree and many of them have multiple degrees or are attending to receive more degrees. Most teachers make a real effort to get to know you, to relate to you, to make class more interesting, and anything and everything to make the experience better. Students and teachers equally respect one another: there is a collegiate feeling at the school (which is a good thing for a high school) and, especially Junior/Senior year in high school, they not only encourage and promote original thought and work, but also they promote dialogue, discussion, and treat you like an adult, a respect that all high schoolers deserve. If you are Catholic, it's a great place to really make your faith and understanding yours, and if you're not Catholic, it's still a perfect academic atmosphere in which one can be yourself while being encouraged to think about things that you otherwise wouldn't be able to at a public school (yes, Catholic monks are very accepting of other beliefs and treat them fairly!). Course work is very rigorous and really challenges you as if you were in college (which is it's goal). School becomes your responsibility at Cistercian and makes you learn how to learn, which, in my opinion, is the hardest part about learning. Class size is great because real and deep discussions can come about with class size so small, and without a doubt, everyone there is very smart, college-bound, independent thinkers, regardless of their academic performance. Class isn't about getting the grade, it's about learning."

"As a prep-school, Cistercian is easily one of the best in the state (and I'd argue nation). Knowing Cistercian my whole life, the success rate of students who have attended Cistercian is 100%. It will prepare you with the curriculum for college and the real world, including discussion of life's hardest or most controversial topics that one you would otherwise never think of. You do not choose classes. You only choose your electives, and for senior year, your science. Teachers make the classes rigorous and the work is manageable, even though it's hard some times. The workload at Cistercian is way more than other schools, however I don't think of this is a negative quality because my brother's tell me the workload is very similar to a college's workload, which is what Cistercian is preparing you for."
